New here need a little advice. Need to cut 4 vets

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

New here need a little advice. Need to cut 4 vets

Postby MindEracer » Fri Jul 26, 2019 10:17 am

So I'm at the tail end of a rebuild and starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel. With a bunch of players with tons of hype surrounding them. If some of the hype Pan's out, I believe I have a chance to at least make a run at the playoffs.

We'll be doing a vet cut down in a few weeks we need to end up at 15 or less vets. With a roster of 24, you can keep as many rookies that you drafted up to the limit 24, plus a 3 spot taxi squad for rookies. What spots you have left are filled in a short vet draft. You also need to roster 1 defense, 1 kicker after the vet draft.

12 team league

Standard line up.
1QB, 2RB, 3WR,1TE,1 Flex(RB,WR,TE),DST,Kicker

Current roster:

QBs
D. Prescott
J. Winston
S.Darnold

RBs
N. Chubb
P. Lindsay
R. Freeman
D. Foreman
L. Murray
G. Bernard
C. Thompson

WRs
S. Diggs
J. Landry
W. Fuller
R. Anderson
D. Pettis
M. Gallup
MVS
D. Hamilton
DK Metcalf(R)

TEs
T. Kelce
D. Knox(R)

Taxi
Preston Williams
Darwin Thompson
Bruce Anderson

So I'm sitting at 19 vets and need to cut down 15 yikes..
So I'm thinking of dropping Fuller, Murray both these might sting, Bernard, and Thompson.
Then try do get a good defense and some RB depth (which is very hard to come by in this league) in the vet draft.
Which 4 vets would you drop?
I'm also trying to decide if I have a legit chance to contend. I have a ton of players with hype surrounding them, but no legit Studs. If they pan out, I could be looking at a team with tons of wr depth, to try and pull off a trade for another RB.

1. That team is not making the playoffs
2. Do not cut Fuller
3. Can you try to trade some guys? Can you try to package two guys together to get an upgrade somewhere? Trade Murray to Kamara owner?
4. If you can't trade, then I would cut Thompson, Bernard, and Foreman for sure.
5. The fourth cut would be between MVS and D. Hamilton. I probably lean D. Hamilton.

I would drop Bernard, Thompson, Anderson and Winston. Fuller has more upside then Anderson based on his QB in my opinion. Winston is a tough drop but in a 1 QB league, you have a solid starter in Dak and an up and coming QB in Darnold. Tough cuts either way for sure. Not sure you are a contender yet but should be a playoff team. Hopefully some hype guys hit and you look great heading into 2020. Welcome to the community and good luck as you continue your rebuild.

Ideally you can package some veteran players for picks or consolidation trades, but if not, I'd drop Gio Bernard, Chris Thompson, DaeSean Hamilton, and whoever you like less between Sam Darnold and Jameis Winston.

Thanks for giving me some clarity on Hamilton, my orange and blue colored glasses were blocking my view on him.
Not sure why I chose to think Fuller over him, maybe the injury history that's frustrated me over the last few season's.
Interested is see what you guys would value Murray late second?

Your best bet in regards to Murray is going to be the Kamara owner. I would try to get a 2020 second, but would take a third for him.

I'm actually thinking about sending him an offer for Hamilton and Murray. He's also Lock owner and actually needs some WR depth. He's definitely a top 3-5 contender I'm thinking of asking for 2020 1st should be pick 10-12 to see how he responds.
