Kickers? Really???? Kickers???

Probably the most lame topic on the board today...but here I go asking for advice anyway! Entering a rookie draft here in a few weeks and I'm preparing for my picks now. Our league still uses the kicker so as much as I hate drafting one, I need one. Now, keep in mind this has to be a rookie kicker. Any advice on which rookie kicker has the best chance of seeing the field this year? Thanks!

If possible, don't draft one. Draft a player at a different position that you think may have upside and see what happens in camp. Then stream a kicker just before week 1.

Agreed. I would wait until the rookie kickers level out in camp and the preseason before draft one. It's tough to say where kickers stand until the season is about to start.

If you absolutely HAVE to draft a kicker, then I would probably look at Matt Gay who was drafted out of Utah. You don't draft kickers to release them so he should get the gig out the gate.

Considering he and Seibert were the only 2 kickers drafted I would agree with this if you HAVE to pick one! Gay won the Lou Groza award back in '17 fwiw.

I wouldn't draft one. Theres 10 that we haven't even heard of yet that will start at some point this season

Is there some strange roster rule preventing you from waiver adding a kicker during the pre season weeks? Are there really no nfl starting kickers on the waiver wire? 32 team league no copies? I'd rather a 5th round dart throw anything over drafting a rookie kicker.

No strange rules on kickers, it's just that we ONLY draft Rookies in this league. So that means that come draft day there will be 4 teams looking to pick one of the available Rookie kickers during the draft. There will be no waiver wire kickers available after the draft since they will all have been drafted. So, if I don't draft a Rookie Kicker....I just go another season without one.

Plot twist.. it's a dynasty league where you only roster kickers and all of the owners are former kickers!

?? are there unlimited roster spots or something? I've never seen a 12 team league where there are zero kickers on the waiver wire, forget about a 10 teamer.

Ok here is my guess

Best ball league with no waiver wire drop adds or trades.

Yearly rookie only draft is the only way to acquire players.

OP has Brett Maher rostered (per his signature) so he is looking to add backup kicker for bye weeks/ best ball type stuff and as insurance against injury\getting beat out in training camp/ in season non performance
