Fant vs 2020 1st

Postby PhillySpecial » Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:18 pm

The owner of Fant is looking to accumulate 2020 draft picks and he offered the above trade. It is a one TE league and I own Henry and Goedert. My initial thoughts on the trade are 'no' but maybe I am wrong. Any thoughts on Fant being the next Kelce or Kittle?

Based on the rosters - the 2020 1st rounder is likely late and the 2020 2nd rounder is likely a mid pick.

I have Fant so take my advice with a grain of salt. Evaluating TE's is tough but they do have a low bust rate for 1st rounders. I think Fant is a very reasonable piece to move from a 1st to a 2nd. It takes 2-3 years anyway before a TE is productive so I kind of like how you use up a year of the time by paying with a 2020 instead of a 2019. And getting the 2nd thrown in as well makes it worthwhile.

ACTUALLY, nevermind. I just saw it was a 10 team league. I might just pass afterall. I'd hate if you ended up with the 1.06-1.07 in 2020. I was thinking you would be more along the lines of 1.10-1.12.

I would hold Fant but I'm very high on him. I think he has really high potential and his value could grow in value quickly.

I was thinking of countering with a 2021 1st. I am too high on the 2020 draft class and I do have adequate TE depth in a 1 TE league with Henry and Goedert.

With your build I would keep the 2020 first. You already have Henry and Goedert. You don't need a 3rd TE to develop, especially when it isn't TE premium.

Fant straight up for the 2020 1st should do it. It's not necessary to add the 2nd rounder. I'd personally keep Fant, but since you already have 2 future stud TEs you don't really need 3. Or trade your least favorite out of the 3. Or trade Fant for whatever position you might be seeking. Just some food for thought.

I would keep the 1st. I don't think Fant puts up the numbers people think he will. He also wouldn't be a 1st rounder in a stacked 2020 class

Assuming your 2020 first is late (6-10) and assuming the 2020 second is mid (4-7) i would definitely move down 4 to 11 spots to pick up fant, who should be worth a first on his own in a year or two. With TE being such a hard position to feel "all set" about, you will likely be able sell one of yours for at least a first at some point. Either way i like the value personally.
