Keep Chubb?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Keep Chubb?

Postby johnnymozart » Thu Jul 18, 2019 2:00 pm

Offered Keenan Allen and 2020 1st (late) for Chubb and my 2020 2nd next year. I'd be taking RB at 1.03 regardless, but I tend to favor stud RB over WR in 14 teamers. Thoughts?

I'd rather have Allen and a 1st.

I would take the Chubb side, but only for the reason you stated. I think their value is just close enough to make the difference between a late 1 and a 2 next year unable to overcome the RB premium.

I'd also keep Chubb, but it's a fair offer. Personally I expect some regression from Keenan partially due to a Mike Williams breakout and Hunter Henry's return, so that may be a factor in my decision.

I would keep Chubb but fully understand the argument for both sides. I think Allen is a touch overrated and I think Williams makes a big jump this year.

Your team is a bit rough, even for a 14-team league. You need stud WRs, but Allen is a little longer in the tooth than most of your team. That said, you're not ready to compete yet, so stockpiling 2020 1sts seems like the way to go.
I'd rather see you counter with Kerryon (as I don't feel he'll hold up as well as Chubb) even if you have to add your 2.01. I could even see KJ, 1.08, and lower 2020 2nd for Allen and that 2020 1st, but then I'd immediately look to sell Allen to a contender for a prospect WR and another 1st.
Otherwise, you're better off holding Chubb and continuing to build.

IF Allen was the same age as Chubb I'd lean that side but you're talking about a 5 year age gap and a RB that is more valuable RIGHT NOW compared to Allen, I think I'd keep chubb and hope he enters elite tier.

Man this is close imo.

If you subscribe to the idea that your team can’t compete (I absolutely do not!*), that doesn’t even really help the situation, as both sides have rebuild value. (Chubb obviously is a great young back, and the other side has a 1st in a hyped class and Allen who can be flipped)

My first impression was to keep Chubb. But I dunno it’s really close. I think I’d ask for a bit more if I went that route.

*Ive ranted about this before but it peeves me a bit how much this community thinks a given team “can’t compete”. I’ve seen teams of this caliber win leagues a million times.
