Gurley/MelGo Trade

so... Gordon owner didn't care for the news that broke last week. Sent me an offer of Melgo for Gurley straight up, I countered with Sony + 2020 2nd (8-team league so 9-16 pick) for melgo and then he countered with me giving Gurley + Sony for Melgo + 2020 1st. Which I accepted.

Now my roster is below.. I understand this puts me in a predicament at RB with having to start 4 and melgo status up in air, but I could trade some WR depth for a front line RB if needed. I just felt the gurley for melgo was kinda close but the top 8 pick in 2020 was well worth it to add Sony Michel. This league is a 2 QB + SF so we can start 3 qb and the top 3 qb should be gone with the top 3-4 picks in 2020 rookie draft. The 1st will probably be somewhere in the 5-8 range.

Just looking at my roster and starting requirements I probably shouldn't have made the deal, but I thought the value was there to take it.

How bad did I screw the pooch on this?

I would have gambled on Gurley and Michel over Gordon. I think Kerryon is a really good RB and will put up solid numbers this season, so it's good you have him as your 2nd guy up. That said, with starting 4 RB's, you are in a tough spot. If Foreman and Ballage both make a jump this year it will help a lot, but that could take time. I don't think I would mess with your WR core to help at RB. No need to make another deal that hurts your team to make up for another.

Wow. I am on the side of Gurley and Michel. If Gordan holds out, which is possible you are going to be in big trouble for RB depth. Even if Gordan plays, I think Gurley will put up comparable numbers and I see Michel putting up RB2 numbers easily with that offense. I would be selling for a RB

So play Devils advocate and say I like the Gordon side because I don't believe he holds out. If I read correctly he has to report by 30 days prior to start of the season or he doesn't get any credit for the season and his contract just rolls over, plus he'd be fined a significant amount. It's not like the Bell situation with the franchise tag where he didn't have to report until week 10. He absolutely can choose to sit out but it'd be cutting off his nose to spite his face in a financial sense. I believe this is just posturing to get something done as soon as possible even if it's in season, and specifically a threat to signify IF he is franchise tagged next year, he will hold out like Bell.

my thought is he wont hold out for that reason alone.. having the contract year carry over. This situation is not the same as Leveon's. I think Gordon plays which is obviously why I made the deal. The 1st in 2020 is pretty valuable yet nobody has mentioned it at all. Harris is a real threat to cut into Sony's production. I have held Gurley this long, but even he is saying now that he doesn't know, just has to see what happens.
