Trade Diff.: Mixon & Gurley

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade Diff.: Mixon & Gurley

Postby SWIMball » Sun Jul 14, 2019 5:23 am

At this point, what is the difference in trade value between Mixon and Gurley? In draft picks or tiers of player, either way. Can't tell who has the higher value
Dynasty 12tm .5PPR, 1 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 4W/R/T
QB: Dak, Richardson
RB: Barkley, Ekeler, Montgomery, Charbonnet, G. Edwards, Jeff Wilson, J. McLaughlin, Hunt, Dowdle, Z. White, Kelley, Spiller, Mason
WR: Lamb, Jeudy, Pittman, Godwin, Diontae, W. Robinson, M. Mims, C. Tillman, D. Douglas
TE: Andrews, McBride, Jonnu
Picks: 2024: 1st; 25&26: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th

Mixon is the way safer option at this point for me. He missed 2 games last year and was still a top 8 RB. He should continue to get better and better as he is super young. If an owner still thinks Gurley is not a health concern, I think a 2nd would have to be added to Mixon. Gurley's value is all over the place right now owner to owner, so I'm not sure someone who owns Gurley would add to him to get Mixon. I would not even consider moving Mixon for Gurley personally.

Case and point. I think Gurley is extremely difficult to value right now. Some owners think he is done and others still think he is a top 3 back. I would hold Gurley if I owned him (afraid of selling low) and would not trade for him if I did not.

As for relative trade VALUES (what you get) ... this one comes down to belief & preference. If you believe Gurley will be healthy enough to be 75+% for a few more seasons, he'll continue to have lots of RB1 value in that offense. If you believe the ascending young stud RB narrative for Mixon, he's clearly got lots more long term value with a strong top 5 RB possibility, as soon as this year.

As for relative trade COSTS (what you pay) ...I think most leagues would pretty consistently value Mixon higher. To wit, back in May as a Gurley owner, I offered Gurley + '19 3.10 for Mixon + '19 2.02. Was declined with no counter. Honestly, not sure if even reversing the picks would get it done now. At least in that league.

Net - As an owner of both, I wouldn't give Mixon up for Gurley straight up, but would obviously easily give up Gurley for Mixon now. I'd probably add a 2nd to Gurley side.

The 2nd makes it about right but as a Mixon owner I'd still decline (probably without counter).

I would not consider moving Mixon for Gurley in a deal unless there was a strong incentive. I think most agree Mixon will be a top 10 RB next year, Gurley, who knows? Bad time to be a Gurley owner if you are thinking of trading him, he has little value to most owners. When the season starts, that is when you can best judge Gurley's value.

I think the two are close, but I'd probably take Mixon over Gurley in a startup.

I wouldn’t trade Mixon for Gurley. Terrified of owning Gurley in any league at this point
