Evans for Cooper+

Postby Kmani6 » Sun Jul 07, 2019 10:05 am

I really like Mike Evans and I love my WR trio right now but I got offered Mike Evans and probably a high 2020 2nd that I have for Amari Cooper and 2 probably top 5 2020 1sts. Should I accept the deal? I would be forced to start Cooper and deal with the inconsistency and I’m really trying to win this year. Also I have what I think will be the 1st overall 2020 1st already, and 2 2021 1sts. Please give your advice not just solely on value but winning involved as well.

With the potential of both 2020 1st round picks being high, I would take this deal. You could very well use the RB help next year with Johnson getting older and Gurley's knee concerns and two top 5 picks would help you there. I'm not high on Cooper either but he is a young upside WR. With your build, this seems like a good deal.

With your roster you can afford to move Evans for that deal and still be a contender. I like Evans way more then Cooper, but you can leverage those picks for more help this year or holdem until next year.

Evans may have better consistency, but the value here is too much to pass up. Evans is going to get his, but I wonder if the volume will decrease a little with Godwin and Howard hopefully healthy for the whole season. You'd get another young WR with an opportunity to really breakout with a whole offseason to prepare and now have 3 2020 1st's in the top half of the draft. I would do it.

I'm not a Cooper fan (only because of his inconsistency, he's obviously talented) but I've got to agree that it's too much value to pass up. If you don't love Cooper you could always try to swing him for a Brandin Cooks or comparable but more consistent talent

Yeah it really blows having to start cooper over Evans but I’m gonna have to take the deal. I actually am pretty high on cooper, but even in college and all his NFL years the inconsistency kills. Thanks all

I would do it. Yeah, I like Evans more than Cooper, but it’s not the landslide that a lot of people will make it out. I could easily see Cooper having a 1,200 9-10TDs season in 2019 and if he doesn’t reach that, he’s almost a virtual lock for 1,000 yds 6-7 TDS, that’s his floor, imo. You are going to need those picks in the future for your RB position.

I think Cooper is trash and would probably do this deal. I would look to flip Cooper the following week.

Cooper + any 2020 1st probably gets you Evans in most leagues. Two 1sts? Take that all day.

This is sure to be a minority view, but I'm betting Cooper's #'s / total fantasy points on the year aren't that far off Evans this year. Cooper + the cowboys seem hell-bent on force-feeding Amari the ball. Every completion strokes Jerry's ego one more time. :shifty:

Now for the really bold part - wouldn't surprise me if Cooper catches more TD's than Evans this year. It may surprise you to learn Amari's TD rate/target was greater than Evans last year. Evans had 30 more targets than Cooper. If the volume evens out, as I expect it to, it's entirely possible Cooper at least matches Evan's TD net this year and likely exceeds it.

Seems like last year Evans was way more productive with Fitzmagic than with Winston. Will be interesting seeing the Arian's effect and how much that helps.

Agreed I think this is almost a sell high year on Evans. Just because it’s so easy to sell people on his absurd year yardage wise and talk about the Arians. However, he felt more comfortable if I gave up two 2020 2nds with the 2nd pick being really late. So if the deal becomes Evans and the 2 2020 2nds for Cooper and what I consider to be two top 5 2020 1sts does that change anything for anyone?

Not a Cooper fan, but I'd probably still sell Evans for Cooper + two early 2020 1sts.

That's a great deal for Evans, but I would probably pass honestly. Your team is set up to dominate and downgrading from Evans from Cooper could be the difference of winning and losing in the playoffs.
10 Man IDP, .75 ppr, Big Play Bonus, TE Prem, 2 QB, 1-3 RB, 2-4 WR, 2 TE, 2 DT, 2 DE, 3 LB, 4 DB, 34 Keepers (17 off - 17 IDP)
QB: Watson, Lawrence, Tannehill, Fitzmagic
RB: Jacobs, Javonte, Drake, Mack
WR: Thomas, DJ Moore, Mike Williams, Golladay, Mooney, Kirk, Shepard, Parker
TE: Kittle, Ito Smith, Ebron, Bryant, Seals-Jones
DT: Simmons, Cox, Oliver, Vea
DL: Bosa, Hunter, Heyward, Greenard, Odeyingbo
LB: Watt, White, Cunningham, Kirksey
DB: Collins, Duggar, J Reid, Clark, Edmunds

12 Man, 1 ppr, 1 QB, 1-3 RB, 1-3 WR, 1 TE
QB: Tua, Jameis, Cam, Taysom
RB: Taylor, Javonte, CEH
WR: Jefferson, Nuk, Diontae, Juju, Shepard, Mooney, Robby Anderson
TE: Henry, Gesicki, Brevin, Cook

12 Man, 1 ppr, 1 QB, 1-3 RB, 1-3 WR, 1 TE
QB: Russ, Matty Ice, Tannehill
RB: CMC, Dobbins, Sanders. Scott, Mack
WR: Nuk, Keenan, Mooney, Patrick, Collins, Dyami

Yeah I'm having a really tough time deciding. I have what I would bet is the 2020 1.1 already and that will be an elite RB. The problem is another team has:

QB: Mayfield
RB: CMC, Zeke, AJones
WR: MT, JuJu, Diggs, Moore, Godwin, Sutton
TE: Ertz

And so I'd say my team is literally tied with his maybe I have slight advantage, but if I downgraded to Cooper it could actually be the difference as I have the advantage with WR right now.
Dynasty Team 1:

10 Man, Full PPR, .2 PPC, Double Flex

QB: Kyler Murray
RB: Saquon Barkley , Breece Hall, Swift, Dobbins, Gibson, CEH
WR: Devante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Jamarr Chase, DK Metcalf, Devonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy
TE: Travis Kelce

2023 Picks: 1.4, 1.8, 2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 3.8

Dynasty Team 2:

10 Man, Half PPR, Double Flex

QB: Tua
RB: Barkley , Mixon, Javonte, Jacobs, CEH
WR: AJB, Tyreek, Lamb, Aiyuk, Bateman
TE: Kittle

2022 Picks: 1.5, 1.6, 2.3
2023 Picks: 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd
