Penny vs Golladay

Postby PhillySpecial » Sun Jun 30, 2019 1:45 pm

The Penny owner is interested in Golladay. He wants me to make the first offer. Would Golladay for Penny and a 2020 1st be too much? Or is Penny and a 2020 2nd more even?

I would want a 1st coming back to think about moving Golladay and I still would not move him. Penny has a lot of intrigue right now but his situation is not great with Carson being there and he really did not show all that well last season. I would still take a shot at Penny gladly, but not for this price.

If the other owner came to you interested in Golladay he should be the one making the offer

It’s hard for me to move a young WR like Golliday in any deal for any RB that isn’t a stud. Sure penny has upside and is intriguing. But Golladay has a career of at least 5 more years of WR2 production with upside in him. 3 years from now most likely Penny will be out of his prime and Sutton at the height of his. I tend to defer to the WR side of trading WR2 for RB2 simply because of durability. I agree I’d want a 1st coming back or a younger WR that has a chance to develop into a player with production like Golladay.

I’d ask for the 1st.

If they want you to make the first offer, make it in your favor.

No, that’s not too much. Penny is an unknown with a lot of upside, but that’s all it is right now with Carson still in the mix. I’d start with Penny and 2020 1st at minimum

Don't worry about asking for too much. Just offer what you know you'd accept. Then he knows your price and can either move on, take it, or make an offer of similar value.
Don't stick too hard to dumb rules, such as "if he's interested he should make the 1st offer".

I probably should have done something more productive with that time...

+1, Golladay is worth a lot more than Penny and a random 2020 first isn't going to bridge the gap.
