I'm stuck!

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I'm stuck!

Postby Heartwork » Sat Jun 22, 2019 5:56 pm

Are Hurst and/or Irv Smith still holds? My concerns are that Hurst's advanced age and adding more weight in the off season to make him a better blocker (and he is not even the best te on his team). Irv Smith just got blocked by a 4 year contract from Rudolph? Should I just keep on holding of should I drop them for some WR fliers?

I would certainly hold Hurst and Irv. Hurst was a 1st rounder last year and has been hurt. I think if he continues to be hurt this year I would consider dropping him. Irv is a long term play now.
To answer this question though is all relative to who you would replace him with. Without knowing your waiver wire these are general statements.

Hold Hurst he was a 1st round pick and TE usually take 2-3 years to develop. Smith hasn't even played a snap yet so how ca he be a sell/drop? My take, they signed Rudolph for 4 years, keep him for 2 while smith develops then trade him with 2 years left on his contract while he has value and smith takes over as the full time guy

TE's don't tend to break out until 26-28. You need to understand they are a 5 year hold when you draft them. Hurst will be fine. Lots have dropped him this off-season and Ive been scoping him up. Just like I did with Ertz when everyone started to drop him before he broke out.

Agree. I typically don’t draft TEs for this very reason. It’s like winning the lottery if you land one that is an immediate producer. I’d rather trade for one further down the road.

Depends on who you're dropping them for...but at the very least you should be able to get a 2020 3rd for Smith.

Irv is a good blocker and a good receiver. Sure there will be a learning curve and sure the #1 TE spot is currently blocked by Rudolph. However, who is the 3rd WR behind Diggs and Thielen? Might not be this year...but Irv is gonna see the field and who is the defense gonna focus on?

Really depends on who the fliers are. Assuming its the 12 person, 25man roster team in your sig, I can't really see any fliers worth it. I'd rather wait for the season to start and play out a bit, then use them as pieces to trade.
