Melvin Gordon for two 2020 1st rounders & Gallup

My team is in rebuild mode, so I am selling most of my vets for younger players. I have Melvin Gordon, and was offered two 2020 1st (would likely be middle range picks, neither picks come from stacked teams), M Gallup and Jordan Howard.

It is tough to part ways with Melvin, but given I am a couple years away from contending, selling at peak value now seems very beneficial to me given the RB age cliff.

If it makes any difference, I drafted Miles Sanders this year, so Jordan Howard is a decent handcuff I suppose. Also, given I have been on a fire sale of vets, this trade would give me 8 1st rounders next year in a 12 team league. Maybe this is overdoing it, but i figure I can sell some of these picks in combo deals before the draft next year if I want to layer in some more proven guys.

If you are in a complete rebuild, I’d make this deal easily without even seeing your roster. Having 8/12 2020 first round picks next year will be huge, and give you a lot of flexibility.

Full rebuild, this is a pretty good deal. You are getting a young WR who showed some good things late in the year and 2 1st round picks in a solid draft year. I would also try to flip Howard to a contender and try to sell before the Philadelphia depth chart shakes out.

Just know that the guy buying Melvin is getting him at a big discount. At least try to have him throw in a 2020 2nd.

Adding on to the consensus here.. definitely a good move if you're in full rebuild. Melvin probably won't see his value get any higher than it is right now. I did the same thing a few years ago and now have a team built to win for the next 6+ years. My only advice would be not to move any of those coveted 2020 1st rounders until late in the season (at earliest) when you will have a good idea of how each will end up, whether 1.02, 1.12 etc. I'm sure I don't have to advise you either, but I watched how owners set their rosters (or didn't) even more than the commish did that year because the tanking would affect me the most. Nice job though. Next to a startup, there's nothing more fun and satisfying than rebuilding and turning your 1.1 team (which will most likely be your 2020 pick) into the 1.12 team as early as next year or the year after.
