Trade away Luck or keep him?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Trade away Luck for Kupp, 1.10, and 2020 1st?

Trade away Luck or keep him?

Postby Randomguess » Sat Jun 15, 2019 7:52 pm

12 man league, non PPR. Year 2 of rebuilding a team I took over. Slight modification to a previous post.
QB: Luck, Allen
RBs: Freeman, Michel, Lindsey
WR: Hill, Tate, Washington, Foster
TE: Kittle, Doyle

2019 picks: 1.03, 1.05, 1.06, 1.12, 2.03
2020: 3 1sts, 2 2nds

Trade away Luck in exchange for Kupp, 1.10 and 2020 1st.
Obviously Allen and potentially drafting Murray will most likely not match Luck's numbers.
I'm also trying to shop Freeman for a projected top 3 pick in 2020 plus pick 2.02 this year.

I would easily trade Luck for that, assuming it’s a non-superflex league.

I'd do that trade for sure. Those pieces will help more than Luck would

1 QB, it's the picks and Kupp.

It’s a solid offer that’s hard to turn down. However, I’d build around Luck, and considering you have 5 picks in top 15 of this year’s draft plus 3 2020 firsts I’d use that to rebuild or trade those picks for proven players.

I value Kupp higher than Luck straight up. I'd take the picks on top, and maybe try to trade one of those for Wentz or a comparable QB . Luck's value is as high as it may ever be, though I think he has a career year. Wentz is the ultimate buy at QB, Luck is probably the ultimate sell.

I agree with most of what you are saying, but I don't think Luck is a sell just because he had a good year. He has put up 40 TD's before. Last year he had 39. I think he'll be in the 30's with TD's and well over 4000 yards every year. IN THIS CASE, however, he is absolutely a sell, and I agree with your strategy of going after a guy like Wentz. I'd try and use the 1.10, and hold the 2020 first, as that class is looking better. Kupp is probably worth Luck in a 1 QB, so everything on top (2 firsts) is gravy in this deal.

If only 1 QB, take Kupp and the picks.

QBs too devalued in any 1 qb league under 16 teams essentially.

Mahomes was the exception but highly unlikely that will happen every year.

I voted to pull the trigger on the deal but sorry I have to be the OCD guy. I'd only pull the trigger assuming there are bye week / starting QBs available in this format and / or you are SURE Murray will last to 1.03. If there are multiple teams hoarding 3/4 QBs, and a chance Murray goes early, and you can't get a starting QB to cover bye / injury, I'd be slightly more hesitant. Also, how many keepers each year?
