Package Trade... Nicks for Rice

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Package Trade... Nicks for Rice

Postby JohnnyFive » Tue May 31, 2011 12:24 pm

2QB/3RB/4WR/1TE league
I have an obsession with running backs and I am not sold on Nicks(injuries/acute compartment syndrome has linguring affects). I really like Ray Rice but I don't think the deal is right.

I get: R Rice, Mike Thomas, A Green, Ponder

I send: Nicks, Moreno, Kendricks, Sanchez

Thats the only deal the other guy could come up with he liked. Should I ask for 2012 draft picks or ask for another receiver instead of Alex Green?

His team:
QB: Flacco, Schaub, Orton, Ponder
RB: Johnson, Rice, Turner, Bradshaw, F Jackson, R Bush, A Green, J Rodgers
WR: Miles, S Smith, Welker, Marshall, M Thomas, Driver, Evans, T.O., R Moss, Ochocinco,
TE: Gates, Gresham, Rudolph

I mean I have both Nicks and Rice on my League 1 team in my signature and I think they are both top 5 talents. Looking at your team I think you take a big hit dropping from Nicks to Mike Thomas, especially with questions marks about Britt as well as Colstons lingering injuries. Nicks potential is just too much to move him because of something like compartment leg syndrome. Its not something that constantly flares up. If you are dead set on making this deal then he needs to add more. Especially consider you have to start 4 WRs...

In a league where you start 3 RBs and 4 WRs... (8 team leagues exist???) this is a terrible idea. You are already lacking a 4th WR, going from Nicks to Thomas is not a good idea.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

I like the Nicks side by a lot. I'd prefer Nicks over Ray Rice slightly, but others will disagree.

In my league 1 (which has been going on quite some time) we have 8 people who have one championships so we created a little "League of Champions" which have huge rosters and starting lineups. But other than that I prefer 12-14 team leagues. Only other 8 team leagues I know of are on FX! lol

You don't need a RB. You're RB2 is already better then most teams RB2, but no Nicks puts a pretty big dent in you WR's. You need a decent WR more then an elite RB.

And I would say Nicks is elite more than decent. Keep in mind he is only like 23...I don't see him any lower than 5th in dynasty rankings and I've seen Rice as low as 10th.

Yeah I have never done an 8 team league so this is new to me. All the guys in our league are die hard fantasy football so it should be fun. Its nice having all this talent in one team.

And you guys are right I shouldn't make this trade. I did go overboard in drafting RB's and less WR's so I have to stick with Nicks. Like I said I just love having 3 stud RB's but I will have to kill thought of adding Ray Ray to my Running Back Tri-Fecta.

Let me clarify that A Green is not AJ Green, correct?

The deal isn't bad, I honestly think that Moreno is overrated & Thomas is underrated, and if you covet Rice but think that Nicks will flame out due to injuries, then it's a decently fair deal.

But I would pass.

I agree with the Moreno and Thomas comments...it ultimately comes down to taste. I would rather have moreno as my RB3 than Thomas as my WR1

AJ Green isn't exactly chopped liver - isn't he part of the deal, too?

Is it AJ Green or Alex Green??? lol His OP refers to him as Alex Green but calls him a WR. If it is AJ Green then that could switch things.

It's not a horrible deal - I'd probably ask the other owner to toss in Ochocinco and Randy Moss for the heck of it...

but as much as I love the idea of three stud RBs, I think you need to pass on this deal because of the dropoff from Nicks to whoever your new #1 WR is.
