Fair Trade Value for AJ Green

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Fair Trade Value for AJ Green

Postby seahawks506 » Tue May 31, 2011 11:43 am

Hey guys, so this is my team that I took on as a rebuilding project last year. 12-team PPR, we just had our rookie draft. I traded down from 1.1 to 1.2 and took Green, and immediately put him up for trade to see what I might get. As you can see the roster needs a lot of help so I was exploring getting multiple players rather than concentrating talent into Green:

QB: Flacco, Cutler, Henne, Young
RB: Spiller, Barber, Morris, Kuhn (lol)
WR: Britt, Green, Shipley, LaFell, Clayton, Armstrong
TE: Celek, Dickson, Davis

I have picks 3.1 and 3.4 left.

This team was a lot worse when I took over, but through some trades I was able to get players who weren't washed up. So I got some offers from another owner (a DLF veteran) for Green:

1) Cooley, 1.10, 3.10 for Green

2) Wells, 1.10, 3.10 for Green

3) Cook, 1.8, 1.10 for Green, 3.1

I don't think any of the deals are quite enough, but the selection at 1.8/10 intrigues me in being able to get something like Vereen & Hankerson. I'm not building by position, so I'm not going to take the 1st trade just because it gives me a starting TE- all my positions besides QB need help.

His roster is stacked:
Brees, Ryan, Whitehurst
CJ2K, MJD, Charles, Mendenhall, JStew, Wells
AJ, White, Williams TB, Colston
Clark, Cooley, Cook

So, just wondering if you guys could help me determine if these trades are close enough.

Thanks!

None of those deals are close enough for AJ Green.

RB - Christian McCaffrey, Bijan Robinson, Kyren Williams, Travis Etienne, James Conner, Antonio Gibson, Chris Rodriguez
WR - Tee Higgins, Jordan Addison, Michael Pittman, Nico Collins, Rashee Rice, Christian Watson, Jerry Jeudy, Rashod Bateman
TE - Sam Laporta, Kyle Pitts, Darren Waller, Isaiah Likely
Picks - 2.10, 3.10, 4.10, 5.10

Not even close IMO.

I guess I'm too optimistic about being able to upgrade my roster at the same level with something like Vereen/Hankerson.
Would something like Wells/1.8./1.10 be better? Williams TB/1.10?!
Really tough to gauge the value of Green for me.

X2

A rebuilding teams needs elite talent like Green a lot more than decent talent and late 1st round picks.

honestly, I wouldn't touch Wells right now, I think Williams is going to oust him, and he could be droppable in a year or two. TB mike/1.10 is fair, I think. Maybe too much, actually, depends what the owner thinks of TB mike.

No to the Wells idea. Tampa Mike/1.10 for Green trade would be very enticing. Like Rob said, it depends on how the Tampa Mike owner views him in regards to Green.

x2 I mean you aren't going to be competing this year so I think holding on to Green and Britt and rebuilding (hoping to hit on a couple of guys later) is the way to go. Green, Jones and Ingram are the blue chip talents and worth waiting on the rest of your team to catch up to.

I didn't like any of those offers but you may be able to pull TB Mike/1.10 for Green. I think that'd be a nice trade if you really want to move him. I still think I'd hold firm because I value Green more. Maybe offer Green for Mike Williams/1.8 and see what happens.

I don't like any of those trades and someone would have to be crazy to give you Tampa Mike (who has at least proven he belongs on an NFL field) for unproven AJ Green and then throw a pick in on top of that. If you can get that deal, I would take that in an instant. I like AJ Green, but Tampa Mike and 1.10 would be more then enough for me, but I doubt that would happen.

In my $100 Rogue Traders league (12 team PPR, experienced dynasty veterans & very active), last year's runner-up made the following trade during our rookie draft:

He gave: McFadden, Knox, 1.11.
He received: 1.1 (which he used to take AJ Green).

He knows that he overpaid for him, but he's stoked to roll with this lineup:

RB: CJ2K, JStew, Blount
WR: Nicks, AJ Green, Britt

So if you get an offer like that, feel free to jump on it. Otherwise, tell the jackyls to back off.....

I agree it's a definite pass unless you can get the TB Mike deal.

On another note, how on earth did that other team get so stacked??? The rest of the league must be ripe for picking so maybe I'd try and work on them haha.

You can ask for Mendenhall straight up for AJ Green. That's what I would look at. He's stacked enough that he should consider it. After all, the trade that went down in my league is even more drastic IMO. If not, hold onto him, your roster needs some young potential stud WRs to build around.
