DeAndre Hopkins - Rookie Picks

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Why? Cooks is a consistent low-end WR1 / high-end WR2 locked into a top offense. Seems very fair, and I wouldn't probably wouldn't pay more than that for Hopkins.
Hopkins, a top 3 dynasty asset, is worth a LOT more than a solid WR2 and two future firsts. What are you smoking? lol
How many Cooks owners would actually pay three 1sts or more on top of him to get Hopkins? I know I wouldn't.

If you're insulting others for accepting a top35 dynasty asset and (2) 1st round picks in an extremely loaded 2020 draft class for a single top3 asset, I think you should reconsider both your dynasty approach and your attitude towards others around here.

Most would say Michael Thomas is of similar value of Hopkins - and as a Thomas owner I'd definitely trade him for Cooks + (2) 1sts.

+ 1.07 (2019), 1.09-12 (2010) + DJ Moore

Not sure Kirk qualifies as that young top-25 guy just yet, but best young guy the 1.03 team has imo.
I like DJ Moore quite a bit more than Kirk, so the 2nd offer looks much better to me. I think it is still light another 1st or young player you like, but if this is the best you can get, I might take it. Something like DJ Moore, Parris Campbell or Hockenson at 1.07 and a future 2020 1st doesn't seem to0 bad to build on moving forward, but waiting never hurts either, might get better offers in season when ppl are more focused on winning than rookies and value of their picks.

I would need more then picks coming back to move Hopkins. An overpay to get him is probably so over the top, it would not happen.

I agree with you the owner should’ve gotten more, but it’s not nearly as big a diff as you’re making it out to be. Getting a perennial T10-15 WR and two 1sts in a very loaded draft isn’t a terrible return.

The problem a lot of us (myself included) have, is that it’s extremely easy to post on here that “X” player is worth 4-5 1st round picks, but someone in that league has to be willing to pay that. I think at times we lose sight of that fact.

You’d definitely need a haul of picks, but I’d try to build around some young assets if you were going to take a pack of picks. Maybe a Boyd or Golladay, maybe even young guys like Sutton?

Honestly I agree with some of the others in saying that I would hold Hopkins for now. He’s still got a big enough of a production window that you can hopefully rebuild and improve your team around him. I’d wait until mid season and hopefully some of your older/more role player type guys gain value and you can flip them for additional draft picks.

And it seems your rebuild will take a bit of time anyway. You shouldn't be in a rush to trade a top player with some years of top production left just because these are the best offers you've received. Patience seems prudent here. Let others choose the players. If you still feel like trading Hopkins, you will have offers during or after next season that have 2020 picks and real names involved. I don't think this is the draft to use a player of Hopkins's caliber to gain picks.

Id need a top 4 2019, a top 8 2019, and 2 2020s I think to even consider moving nuk for picks only.

It would be better I'm to trade for a younger wr and 2 firsts.

Well it’s a choice you’re gonna have to make. I took over team a couple years back and the guy did some crazy trades before quitting and the commissioner let it go. The guy traded the 1.01( which was used for Elliot) and Melvin Gordon for Chris Johnson and DeAngelo Williams (they were back ups in Arizona and Pittsburgh) so I didn’t even have a 1st or 2nd round pick my first year in the league . So my first year I had nothing besides Julio Jones. I traded Julio away for a few picks and some players before my second year with the league. With me trading Julio away I got a have way decent team instead of a bunch of back ups (Julio was my only starter that I had when I started). So I got 2 years of 1st round picks plus one 2nd round pick. Got Dez Bryant and Tyler Lockett with trading Julio to. I traded Dez for JuJu in his rookie year before the season started(I’m glad the guy took my trade offer). Now I have Watson, Mixon, Cook, Carson, Penny, Guice, Corey Davis, JuJu. OJ Howard, Njoku . So now I have a team that has a bunch of starters instead of all back ups besides Julio Jones. It’s a chance to trade away a good player and roll the dice on new players. I did strike out on a couple of people though like Sam Perine for Redskins for one example. So it’s up to you to roll your own dice.
QB DeShaun Watson, CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, Will Levis
RB Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, Alexander Mattison, Roschon Johnson, Kendra Miller

I’d wait until the first pick you’re getting in 2019 is on the clock. I’d only want Harry in a rebuild. The DJ Moore one is ok if you can get Hock at 7. I think the offers are fair and you could go either way on them. The problem is this rookie class blows.

Well clearly a single one did, or this discussion wouldn’t even be happening. I agree that it’s light for Nuk, but not to the degree that you’re making it out to be. Really depends on your feelings on Cooks, which seem to be all over the place.

To the OP,
I agree with the people advising you to hold Nuk for now and try to trade him during the season. Wait for a contending team to lose a young stud for the year to an injury and then leverage their desperation to your advantage. You can probably get that injured player at a discount along with a couple 2020 1sts on top.

As others have said, I would wait. You are rebuilding, there is no rush. Wait until the season starts and Hopkins is turning in weekly top 5 finishes and you'll get a lot more. Look for a young player(s) you like out with an injury you can buy at a discount plus picks. If you don't get the value you like, Hopkins will give you a minimum of 3 more years of elite production. Don't rush the rebuild!
