2x Defending Champ. What to do with 1.10?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

2x Defending Champ. What to do with 1.10?

Postby VinniVidiVici » Thu May 23, 2019 12:15 pm

Looking for the three peat this year. Team in sig. Small rosters because we bid real dollars on FAs to bump the prize pool up. Pretty set at all positions. Have offered the pick up in trades but so far no takers. Looking at Murray as of now. Shouldnt need 3 qbs but would rather invest in case of an injury. Also TE is a possibility should Fant be there. Any advice? i know its early just wanted to get some thoughts. Thanks

In a 10 team league I don't see much of a reason for a 3rd QB. Your TEs with Ertz and Engram should be set. You have DJ Kamara and Chubb, for RBs and could use another one, but I don't think any of the top 3 ones fall to you at 1.10. WR I think is the way to go. AJG and A Thielen are older players and Allen may see a slight decrease with Henry coming back and Williams entering Year 3. I think this need lines up well with the "strength" of the class being WR and you just draft best WR available.

The other option would be to wait until the pick is on the clock and see if you can trade it for a 2020 1st.

Agree with above - take a WR. You'll need to replenish soon with the older WRs you have. Buuuuuut being a back to back champ you probably don't need too much help or guidance. Nicely done.

I assume I'll get roasted for this, but I don't hate the idea of investing in Murray or a top TE, even in this 10 team league. If you think either has more long term value than say, the 3rd or 4th or 5th best RB / WRs in this class, then go for it. A stud QB sitting on your bench is better than a stud QB putting up big points for another team or against you. Again I'm probably in the minority here, and my perspective is biased by the fact I play in a 16 team league. [Ducks and runs!]

Your WRs are getting a little old and there should be a lot of talented WRs available late in the 1st round. I would offer the pick for a 2020 1st and if no one bites grab the best WR on the board.

Trade for a 2020 1st (hopefully from a bad team). It'll accrue more value over the season, can't get hurt/suspended and you'll be able to trade it at the trade deadline to fill any holes you develop from injuries, if need be. The only advantage of drafting a player is having them start for you this year, but you don't need a starter, just depth. That 2020 1st will fetch way more win now QB (or any position) production than Kyler.

1. Try to package a player and the 1st for an upgrade.

2. Trade it for a 2020 1st. Start with the teams you think will finish worst.

Stacked team. We'll done. I agree WR is your biggest "need", but I am not sold on Lindsey.

Have you offered 1.10 to Royce owner? Would that interest you?

I have Murray at 1.10 in my rankings. Honestly the quality of rookies fall after 9, so maybe a trade up? Or maybe one of the Iowa TEs will fall to you. If you really want a QB, you should be able to get Lock or Jones, who will both be starters in 2020, for the cost of a 2nd rounder.

I have no clue about the defensive side of the house, but maybe a stud on that side? Rookie class seems a bit weaker for skill players this year.

g'luck!
