James Conner Hate??
Why do all fantasy websites proclaim that Conner is a sell? The guy produced very well last year and has a great college pedigree. I realize his athleticism is not great but he is a great football player and gets the job done. He hits holes, catching the ball and scores TD's.
Am I wrong to keep him? All other owners see these fantasy articles and make poor offers on Conner.

Re: James Conner Hate??
I would think he is very valuable for a contender.
If he is a sell it's because his future beyond this year is uncertain. Though he produced well, anytime a player, especially a rb doesn't have multiple years or draft pedigree there is a reasonable level of uncertainty in their future. Many players, especially Rbs without pedigree, end up getting replaced a surprising amount.
There isn't the safety net you get a guy like Zeke, who if he suffers a season ending injury, he will get the job back next year, even if he misses training camp etc. If Connor gets hurt week 16 and is out for a year, Pitt goes and drafts one if the Rbs in the hyped 2020 class and Connor takes a back seat.

I wouldn't sell cheap. What's his value though? More than the 1.01?
Let's say Connor and Jacobs both tear their ACL week 1. Who will be nearly guaranteed to start next year?

Potentially neither of them. Not with the stable of RBs that could be taken next yr.SteveMaddensShoes wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 3:31 pmI wouldn't sell cheap. What's his value though? More than the 1.01?

On the flip side they both could remain starters as well. But in this theoretical case, it would be a tense couple months waiting for the draft to pass by.

Re: James Conner Hate??
Conner is good, but AB was in Pitt so long it’s hard to confidently project what they’ll be without him spreading out defences.
Not only that, but combine the fact that Ben is getting older, and they just lost one of the best Oline coaches in the game.
Making a lateral move from Conner to someone like Mixon would prob be a wise move, even if you had to chuck in a 2nd or something.

I think Conner is an easy hold. Could easily remain a top 10 RB for a couple years to come. Not sure why some sites are so down on him

Re: James Conner Hate??
Conner is not an elite talent. To me, he’s JAG. Put anyone in that system last year and they put up similar production.
He faced very few 8 man fronts because of AB. Well AB is gone. My guess is defenses will be stacking the box more now that they just have JuJu to worry about. Conners numbers will decrease this year.
I wouldn’t sell him for cheap, but I’d be looking to move him for a good haul.

To me, Conner is a JAG in an amazing spot. Pittsburgh will lean on him as long as he is healthy. But as a talent, I think he is replaceable rather easily. But as long as he is starting in Pittsburgh, he is top tier.

I think he is a sell high because I think Samuels takes a lot of 3rd downs , Samuels is the better receiving back so why over work Conner again if there is no need , Keep him healthy and fresh

Re: James Conner Hate??
IMO, it's not "hate" on Conner. Rather, it's the understanding that Conner's value has likely peaked.
That doesn't mean that he'll bomb out. But, it does mean that the return that you could get on him now is likely more than you'll ever be able to get in the future.
If he's a key piece of a championship team, feel free to keep: he'll produce well. But it also wouldn't be the worst idea to see if you can cash out and get valuable assets that can help you for multiple years. And, if you're rebuilding, then he's nearly a must-move for the reasons above.

Re: James Conner Hate??
I had Conner and love him, but I traded him for OBJ. I felt like I wanted to sell high on him. I think he will be very good for 2 more years, but once that rookie contract is up, Pitt has shown they arent going to pay big for a RB. He is great in Pitt because that system is ideal for a RB. I'm also concerned with him staying healthy for a full season.
I think those that are down on him are taking the sell high approach. Thats an approach I agree with. I expect him to be a top 5 RB the next 2 years if he stays healthy. Once he leaves Pitt though, I'm not interested at all.

Re: James Conner Hate??
He's basically another Jeremy Hill or Jordan Howard in my opinion, nothing special about him just in a good situation. I have zero shares and certainly won't be buying any, but I would be cashing in on him now and getting a great return on his current value.

I think this is the most accurate take on Conner's value that I've read. Moishetreats really hits the head on the nail on this one.moishetreats wrote: ↑Fri May 17, 2019 7:41 pm IMO, it's not "hate" on Conner. Rather, it's the understanding that Conner's value has likely peaked.
