Sony vs Pettis/2020 1st

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Sony vs Pettis/2020 1st

Postby SteveMaddensShoes » Tue May 14, 2019 7:37 pm

How close is the offer?
Team in sig

I give
Sony Michel
Damien Williams
2020 3rd

He gives

Pettis
Curtis Samuel
1.09
2020 1st

His team is hard to judge. Ended up 1.01 this year but don't expect that at all this year. He was plagued by multiple injuries.
TEAM 1 - 12 man SF. ppr, TEP 1.65 ppr

11 starters - QB, RB(2) WR(3) TE, SF, Flex(3)

Stroud, Kyler, Bryce Young, Anthony Richardson, Minshew, Trey Lance, Dalton l, Mike White

Breece, Achane, AJ Dillon, Justice Hill, Evan Hull, Chris Rodgriquez

Chase, Lamb, Waddle, Olave, London Drake, Demario Davis, Jake Bobo

Kyle Pitts, Mark Andrews, Kincaid, Schoonmaker

24 picks - 1x2, 3,4,5

Team 2-
12 man SF, .25ppc, .5ppr rbs, 1 ppr wr, 1.5 ppr TE

Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawerence, Jake Haehner, Jake Browning

JT, Kendre Miller,, K Ingram, Ty Chandler, Michael Carter, Kenny Macintosh, Sean Tucker

I would try and restructure the deal and offer Williams for his 2020 1st if he likes Williams. Moving Michel would leave you in trouble at RB and I don't think there is enough in that deal to move him. The 2020 1st is great but Michel could easily be a top 10 back this year based on TD production alone.

I like the value in what you’re getting back but, as above, you are giving up your 2 starting RBs so that makes it trickier.

QB 2RB 2WR 1TE 1SF 3Flex

QB: Watson, Cousins, Minshew, Rosen, Brissett, Teddy
RB: Conner, Hunt, Ingram, White
WR: Hopkins, Julio, Hill, DJ Moore, Boyd, Chark, Miller, Dionte

Team 3: 12 Team, PPR, TE Premium, 6pt TDs, +1 for 40yd TDs [All], Superflex. Year 2. 2019 Champ.
QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1SF 2Flex

QB: Mahomes, Wilson, Stafford, Brees

Williams >= 1.09
Pettis + 2020 1st > Michel

Seems pretty fair overall, but I'd want the Pettis side by a bit.
Kittles Pox | Championships: 2015, 2017
12-Team PPR | QB, 2RB, 2WR, TE, W/R/T, K, DST
QB: Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers
RB: Christian McCaffrey, Melvin Gordon, James Conner, Phillip Lindsay, Tevin Coleman, Boston Scott, Benny Snell Jr.
WR: Tyreek Hill, Mike Evans, Cooper Kupp, Michael Gallup, Christian Kirk
TE: George Kittle, Travis Kelce | K: Younghoe Koo | DST: SF
PS: Mecole Hardman, Tony Pollard | 2020 Picks: 1.09, 2.10, 3.03 | 2021 Picks: 1st, 2nd

I don't trust Michel at all. Part of that is because of his knee and the other part is how the Pats use Rb's. I would go with the Pettis side. But I agree with what folks are saying about Williams. Maybe try to squeeze a little more out of the other side if they are a big believer in Williams

If the value is there I’ll take it I think.

He didn’t really want Williams but he is taking him to make the trade happen. I can’t find another buyer for him and I don’t believe in him at all. He was just a throw in in a different trade so I could flip him for something.

I’m not worried about losing starting rbs. My team won’t compete until 2020 anyway.

I am not sold on Sony being that good. I could be wrong. I don’t want my beliefs about him to persuade me to sell him cheap though.

Thanks for the reponses

I think the Pettis side has more value, but it's close for me. Michel is still the best piece in the deal.

I think you are selling low on both Sony and Williams. Atleast hold off until about week 3 when Williams is sure to be a top RB and sell high on him then

I've tried to sell Williams in this league to the usual suspects. Those couple guys have turned him down for a 1st. There are a couple guys that might buy him, but I'm the commissioner if this league and several guys are new to dynasty and I'd feel bad offering them Williams for the 1.02 or 1.05. they don't need him and it would hurt their teams, even if they didn't realize that and accepted.

So I'm looking at it like Pettis+Samuel for Williams. And 1.09(should be one of Haskins/Montgemory/Metcalf) +2020 1st for Sony.

I understand the sentiment to wait until week 3 but there is a non zero(and actually decent) chance Williams isn't even the starter imo. And if Williams is injured he will never recover his value and it will be completely lost.

By taking the deal I move my 1st up next year as well.

Out of curiosity, when did you try trading williams? before or after the draft?

I can certainly see declining to trade a 1st for williams predraft. But post draft, a contender with shaky RBs should be jumping all over williams for a 1st.

for all we know they could end up with the better side of deal.
unlikely maybe, but you can pick a bust and williams could turn out to be a solid RB for a few seasons.

being condescending to noobs sucks, both for you and for them.

I'm not being condescending. I just got out of a league last year where the commish would invite new people and then make redraft deals with them that we're lopsided dynnasty wise. It sucked. I just don't want to be that guy.
