What would I need to throw in to get Deshaun Watson

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What would I need to throw in to get Deshaun Watson

Postby Indy Blue » Mon May 06, 2019 6:17 pm

For Team 1 below. I'd like to try and upgrade my QB position as I think all 3 of my QBs have upside, but question marks around them. The Deshaun Watson owner is in a complete rebuild and I was thinking of trying to pry Watson from him. What would I need to add to Wentz, Winston, or Garoppolo to get Watson?

I would be most apt to move Winston at this point. I'm guessing a 1st would have to be added. Even in a full rebuild, Watson will likely be tough to get. He may be a main piece to build around.

2018 might have been rocky but I think you'll be fine moving forward. Some have Wentz over Watson in dynasty or at least the same tier. Maybe start with his choice of Jameis or Jimmy + a 2nd. Wentz + 2nd if you're dead set on getting Watson but I'm not sure it's cost effective going higher than that.

Price will certainly be > Id be willing to pay. You’ll be fine with those QBs in a 1 qb league.

You may be right. I'm probably just getting itchy to make a trade since our rookie draft isn't until June.

Try to resist the temptation to trade just for fun. I think between your current quarterbacks you have a great chance to have one outperform Watson. Wentz was an MVP candidate before injury 2 years ago, and Garoppolo and Winston both have great playcallers. You're completely fine at QB.

It's a ten team 1 QB league. QB's are not worth anything. It's going to cost you too much to get Watson, and he's not going to be worth it. Doesn't matter if the owner is in a rebuild, Watson is incredibly young and QB's play a long time in this league.

Don't trade for Watson.

Just as an update, I decided to sound the Watson owner out to see what he would want to see if a deal might be possible if the demand wasn't outrageous. I floated an offer of any of my three current QBs, plus a combination of some WRs and/or picks. The Watson owner came back with a demand of two of the three 2020 1sts I currently hold (picks that are both likely to be top 5 picks and possibly picks 1 and 2), along with two of my 4 depth WRs (MVS, Williams, Boyd, and Kirk).

Needless to say, in a one QB league that is way way way too high a price point for me, so I'm definitely out.
