What to do at 2.01?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

What to do at 2.01?

Postby Jcedwards » Tue Apr 30, 2019 6:51 am

I am unsure of what to do at 2.01. I have a pretty solid team, so there isn't a particular need that I need to address. Based on the latest mocks, these are the players that should/ will be there at that position that I'm considering:

- Kyler Murray (I'm set at QB with Mahomes, but Kyler can sit on my taxi squad all year and not take up a roster spot)
- Devin Singletary (liked him coming out of college, but the landing spot isn't ideal- at least for this year, but I don't necessarily need him this year)
- Damien Harris (same as Singletary)
- Henderson (same as Harris and Singletary)
- Justice Hill (I really like his landing spot, but is 2.01 too early to take him)
- Mecole Hardman (tough one to gauge, because he could be picked early being on that elite offense; looks to be Hill's replacement)

I've seen Butler and Isabella available there, but I already have Kirk at WR, so as of right now, I'm not targeting either one.

Who out of that list should I seriously be targeting (knowing that I will not need them for this year), or should I look to trade out of that spot? Roster is in signature. My other picks are 2.10 and 3.07

I have the 2.01 and I'm in the same boat, I don't really need anything. I'm leaning Murray based on value alone and hopefully he gains value heading into 2020.

You don't need QB, and I am not a fan of Murray. Any QB in this draft. Hardman is very risky, IMO. I would probably target either Singletary (I think he takes over there sooner than later) or Henderson (Gurley has been hurt, something is really off about him). Also consider Hockenson if he falls, and/or Fant. You're solid with Ertz/Njoku, but Hock could be something special, and Fant is VG as well.

having no glaring needs, pick the one with the highest potential ceiling. which is probably hardman.
i wouldn't discard butler and isabella only because you have kirk.
one of the two TE could also give an excellent return if they hit.

I have thought about one of the TE's if they happen to fall. While I don't need one with Ertz and Njoku already rostered, it would allow me to be set at TE for a long time, plus it would give me the luxury to shop one of my current ones down the line (probably Njoku).

We haven't even set a draft date yet, so a lot of things can change, but as of right now, everyone on the list (plus TE's) are in play, except maybe Henderson, Harris, and Hill (may target Hill at 2.10). I have 3 elite RB's and 1 good RB (with the potential to be great if given the reigns), but nothing after that, so I could use some depth at the position. While all of those RB's may not contribute much this year , I think they are good for dynasty (especially Singletary and Hill). Hill may surprise this year and get a decent workload.

So I’m thinking of Murray at 2.01. While I don’t need him, I’m unsure about my backup options. I’m not sure what to think of Winston and I may cut Eli. I feel like this is a make or break year for Winston. On paper it looks like he will have a good year with Arians and he has a lot of weapons around him.

Smart move or just ride with my current backups?

With more and more uncertainty with Gurley’s knee, I have also thought about Darrell Henderson.

Also, another thought. Trade down from 2.01. Would look at 2.04 or 2.07 and add Justice Hill. Would look for an additional 3rd round pick or a minor player.

I would just wait and see what happens.

It's very possible one of Deebo, Paris Cambell, Hollywood or Whiteside are available at 2.01.

Was gonna say something like this. I got JJ at 16 overall in sig league. I got Hollywood at 12, deebo at 14 in another. AJ went 15 in that one.

Only guys I’d rule out is Jacobs sanders Monty and Harry, so I’d add all those other guys, plus the two TEs to your considerations.
