Sacrifice my future for win Now?

Postby Kmani6 » Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:42 am

Yo!, my squad is real competitive this year, and I think I could win it all. I was considering moving some potentials + picks to a rebuilding team for his only two good pieces left in Aaron Jones + T.Y. Hilton (just got Kittle from him). Keep in mind this is a 10 man league where studs rule. I was thinking because of Cook/Gurley's injuries having Aaron Jones on my bench would come in really handy (although I do have both of their backups already). Likewise, having an extra ~WR1 in T.Y. could really help me win the league, I would be sacrificing quite a bit of depth though.

Receive: Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams, T.Y. Hilton
Send: 2020 mid 1st, 2020 late 1st, 2020 high 2nd, Dante Pettis, Christian Kirk
Dynasty Team 1:

10 Man, Full PPR, .2 PPC, Double Flex

QB: Kyler Murray
RB: Saquon Barkley , Breece Hall, Swift, Dobbins, Gibson, CEH
WR: Devante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Jamarr Chase, DK Metcalf, Devonta Smith, Jerry Jeudy
TE: Travis Kelce

2023 Picks: 1.4, 1.8, 2.9, 3.2, 3.6, 3.8

Dynasty Team 2:

10 Man, Half PPR, Double Flex

QB: Tua
RB: Barkley , Mixon, Javonte, Jacobs, CEH
WR: AJB, Tyreek, Lamb, Aiyuk, Bateman
TE: Kittle

2022 Picks: 1.5, 1.6, 2.3
2023 Picks: 2 x 1st, 2 x 2nd

Hilton would go a long way to help your WR's and Jones would be nice to have in case of injury. I would try and take Kirk out of the original deal. You are giving up a fair amount.

I don't see it. Seems like an overpay for Hilton, I think you'd be better off using that package to get a legit wr1.
12 team ppr, 1 qb, 2 rb, 2 wr, 1 te, 2 flex
QB: Deshaun Watson, Marcus Mariota
RB: Ezekiel Elliott, Le'Veon Bell, Kerryon Johnson, Peyton Barber, Ronald Jones, Darwin Thompson
WR: Amari Cooper, Adam Thielen, Antonio Brown, Will Fuller, DeDe Westbrook, Robby Anderson, Marquise Goodwin, Justin Watson, Albert Wilson, Greg Dortch
TE: Travis Kelce, Vance McDonald, Kyle Rudolph, Delanie Walker, Ian Thomas, Gerald Everett

x2 Pettis + Kirk + two 2020 1sts could get you a real WR upgrade, possibly even one of the top-5 guys. I'd inquire about Beckham, Hopkins, Adams, Thomas, or Hill with that package.

Jones = 2020 mid 1st
Hilton < 1st, 2nd, Kirk, Pettis

I like the idea of going after a good WR, but agree that you should aim higher with those pieces.

By value, I don't mind it as much as everyone else seems to.

But, there's a good chance that Jones would never start a game for you. I'd rather make an offer just for Hilton or, as @WhatWouldDitkaDo suggested, package everything up for one single stud WR rather than the Jones/Hilton combo.

Yo I've tried to get an Elite WR for literally everything possible. Approached OBJ, MT, Adams, Hopkins owners to add all of that PLUS Cooper and still got no's. This is the second year for this league so people don't value these upside guys + picks as much. What's even worse is me and another team have all the good RB's so everyone clings on to their elite WR's, which makes sense. Thought it would be a funny April's fools joke to tell our commish, the OBJ owner that I'd offer Gurley, Brandin Cooks + my 2020 1st, and got destroyed lol. Anyways, this owner is rebuilding and absolutely loves Pettis. Would Cook + Pettis for Aaron Jones + T.Y. Hilton + his 2020 High 1st (~1.01-1.03) be worth it. Assuming Jones is slightly worse than Cook, T.Y. would offset that by giving me extra depth I guess, and the 2020 1st > Pettis?

You'd be getting Jones for free. It's a great deal for you, but I doubt that'll get accepted. Worth a shot if you think you can make it happen. At worst, you counter and drop Jones or the 1st from the deal.

Do the deal, don't play scared!! The goal is to win, not have a sexy roster. One can easily argue that Jones/TY are equivalent to the picks in the deal...in a shallow league, I am not sure Kirk is ever going to be a locked in starter and Pettis is similar. These guys are replaceable...DO THE DEAL!!!
