I’m aware that this question is somewhat dependent on landing spot, but let’s assume both of these guys land in ideal spots.
In a 2TE SF IDP league I have the 1.01, 1.04, 1.09 and 1.12. My plan is to take an RB with the 1.01 as that’s a position of need, and then use the 1.04 on one of these TE’s to make sure I get my guy (my best TE in a 2TE is Jordan Reed lol).
Based on the factors above, who would you take first? I may also consider spending the 1.09 on a TE as well if one of these falls or if not then maybe Irv Smith if he’s there.
Would love to get some thoughts!

Hockenson may go before Fant in the NFL draft but in Fantasy, Fant is the first TE.

Fant is definitely more of a pass catching TE whereas Hockenson gets rave reviews for his effectiveness in the run game, limiting his fantasy output.

I see Fant like Kittle and Hockenson kind of like a slightly more athletic Zach Ertz. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Maybe I'm a little bold with my comparisons, but I think those can be their ceilings.

I think both are solid TE's and you probably can't go wrong with either. Fant easily has the higher upside from a fantasy perspective, he's a non factor in the blocking game which is good for fantasy and he has athleticism and pass catching ability on par with the guys like Evan Engram. Hockenson is the safest fantasy choice in this class, dude is a complete day 1 TE that can do it all, however because he can do it all he may not be put in a position to catch 80+ balls a year like the top 3 TE's do.

Even if both go to great landing spots, I would take whoever gets drafted first in the NFL. Draft capital is a huge factor for me.
If you had to choose pre-draft, I would choose Fant as he is the better college pass catcher.
