1.03 for Spiller & Hardesty *revised

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

1.03 for Spiller & Hardesty *revised

Postby Warhawks » Sat Apr 30, 2011 1:26 pm

Team in signature. I have 1.02 and 1.03. I have been offered Spiller and Hardesty for 1.03. I know Spiller was a high selection last year but will he ever live up to it? I know it was just his first year but not a whole lot to love about it. What do you think of this trade?

I'd take it in two seconds. Great offer. I'm considering offering the 1.05 for Spiller straight up.

If ingram was in a better situation I'd say hold onto it, but he's basically in an RBBC situation, like spiller, so I think their values are roughly equal and with the added value of hardesty, I'd take it.

I would also rather have spiller than a 1.05 all day long. I think he's better than Williams and Leshoure to begin with, and given their situations? Spiller's situation is no worse, and probably a little better.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but doesn't spiller play for the same team, with the same players, with the same system, and with the same coach who didn't play him last year. I think there is substantial risk here, where as if you use this pick for Delone Carter or Daniel Thomas you might end up with a better fantasy player.

This is the first time I am seeing those players as picks @ the 1.3. The 1.3 is between AJ Green and Julio Jones and I wouldn't consider anyone else. I think the trade offers you great value in players who have been highly invested in by their teams. I would accept quickly.

Make the trade. You are getting two players who have the potential of both ending up their teams #1 RBs by 2012 at the latest.

I have zero faith in hardest ever doing anything in this league and Spiller has shown he is still years away from producing. I'd rather the 1.3

Based on what? The coach using Fred Jackson as the #1 for all of his rookie season and barely letting Spiller touch the football? This is commonplace in the NFL. But fantasy owners have ZERO patience when an RB doesn't start in their rookie year. Let's look for a moment at several of the top RBs, shall we?

AP, CJ424, Foster, Rice, Mendy, Charles, McCoy, MJD

I think we can safely say these are the top 8 RBs in the NFL. How many of them started and produced during their rookie season? One (AP). Two others (CJ and MJD) were in shared backfield and both performed well in the secondary role. The other 5 produced very little and your analysis would have had you casting them aside. Let's throw some others into the mix: Turner, Gore, DMC...

Now let's look at some other RBs who were thrown right into the #1 role: Moreno, Mathews, Best, Forte... I don't think it is any coincidence that most of these guys failed to live up to expectations their first year in the league.

Spiller, Maclin and an unamed IDP at the moment

for 1.03 and Manningham

I think I like this one

You sure he sent this as a counter?? I don't know about the IDP part but I think this is 10x a better offer than 1.03 for Spiller and Hardesty

The IDP doesn't matter...this is in your favor without it...
