Goedert trade value in 2TE League

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Goedert trade value in 2TE League

Postby gg830 » Tue Jan 29, 2019 2:13 pm

Curious how you guys would value Dallas Goedert in a 12 team Superflex PPR, mandatory start 2 TE with TE premium scoring (2PPR). Only have three other viable starters at TE. Might be able to acquire Guice for Goedert straight up. Leaning against it with the positional scarcity but interested in your thoughts. Thanks.

Who are your other three TEs? If you trust them, I would definitely take Guice.
Team 1-

1.07, 3.04, 4.07

Team 2-
.5 PPR TE Prem (1Q, 2 R, 3W, 1 T, 3 WRT)
QB: J. Allen, Kyler, Stroud
RB: CMC, Bijan, Gibbs, JT, Breece Hall, Kamara, Gibson, 4nette
WR: Diggs, Hill, AJB, Aiyuk, London, JSN, Hollywood, M.Mims, Meyers, Shaheed
TE: Kelce, Kyle Pitts, Dulcich, Logan Thomas
2024: 2 1st (one top 3), 4th

Team 3- (Adopted Dumpster Orphan)
.5 PPR TE Prem (1Q, 2 R, 3W, 1 T, 3 WRT)

OJ Howard, Herndon, and Vance McDonald. Not the best but serviceable.

He'd probably be worth around a late 1st. Definitely not worth the same as Guice.

Guice is not even in the same ballpark as Goedert even in a TE premium format in my opinion. As mentioned, you could maybe fetch a late 1st for him.

Goederts value is capped by Ertz for the foreseeable future. Wentz loves Errz. I’d take a shot on Guice instead of waiting around for Goedert to return TE1 numbers( I do think Goedert is the best fantasy Te from the 2018 class). This draft is super deep at TE the “experts” are saying. 9-10 deep. Just grab 1-2 in your upcoming rookie draft.

I think that, by the end of their careers, we'll see that Goedert will have been the better asset than Guice in this format -- and it might not be all that close.

There are two big factors, though:

1) It's a massive gamble: Guice has RB1 talent and upside; and
2) It might take a few years for Goedert to really produce.

So, if it were a $5 bet on who would be more valuable at the end of their careers, I'd take Goedert easily. In fantasy football -- where Guice's value is so much higher now than Goedert's -- I wouldn't argue with taking Guice and either hope that I was wrong or try to re-acquire Goedert in a year or so if/when his owner gets tired of waiting.

In all likelihood, though, crazy as it sounds, I'd keep Goedert. I'm almost always of the opinion of trading for value, but this would be a likely rare exception. I know that I am off-the-walls high on him, but I think that I'd regret trading Goedert away and watching him explode more than I would regret keeping him and being wrong.

Thanks moishetreats. That was kind of my feeling initially. Guice worth more now but Goedert could be worth more in our format long term. But like you I think I am higher on Goedert than most. Gamble either way I suppose, and trade would be between two of the strongest teams in the league, so really hate to be on the wrong side.

In that case, I'd be even more inclined to go with my gut (in this case, Goedert) than trade for perceived value.

And, you're welcome! :)

I’m new to start 2 TE. In a league like this where the TEs receive double the ppr than other players and you must start 2, how much of a bump in rankings do the TEs receive? Do guys like Kelce or Kittle become a first rd start up pick in this format? I recently joined a similar league via a dispersal draft. Only 1 qb not SF and we start 2 TE with TEs receiving double the points for receptions. I had second pick in the dispersal and went Kittle , was this smart? Passed on Ertz, Mixon, MGIII, MT, JuJu.

Kittle > Ertz
Kittle > MGIII (carries are adding up)
Kittle = Mixon (super close)
Kittle > JuJu (super close)
Kittle > MT (super close)

Not many elite TEs out there, I think you did well although maybe you could waited one more round.

Thanks, i figured he was worth a lot. It was a 5 team dispersal and somehow with the 9th overall pick MT got back to me so I’m super happy. Ertz went at 1.05 2.01 turn.
