This is not directed specifically to my team, but overall impactful to how I/we all view and value players.
When I look at my years of doing fantasy football, I feel there is a constant paradigm shift over the course of a few years at a time:WRs are abundant, and the driving value in FFL, most benefit heavily from PPR, the league is pushing for higher scoring and throwing games, etc. to the opposite of bell-cow backs and heavy ground-and-pound games. Recently, great QBs, arguably one of the best generations of QBs ever, has been pumping up and building amazing WRs.
Now, with the older QB and WR group starting to fade, I'm seeing startup drafts start to shift from having 7-8 WRs as must take in round 1, and having maybe 1 or 2 RBs you need to grab, to a far heavier RB environment with them dominating the scene.
I am watching the league drift towards a prominent generation of young, consistent, and powerful RB players (with Gurley, DJ, Hunt(?), M Gordon, L Bell, Zeke, Kamara, CMC, Barkely, Fournette, Cook, Freeman, Chubb, Guice(?), Lindsay, etc etc), so the questions is, if this is the case, and teams start to shift assets towards building out a ground-and-pound type running scheme, coupled with QB scarcity for many teams, will the WR position start to become more scarce for reliable players?
Are we going to see WR fill the role of being players that move the chains, and have some big games, but no longer massive focal points for offenses? Will WRs in the foreseeable future become the "Option B" to the running game "Option A"? I am thinking about someone like Thielen or Edelman vs the AJ Green or Megatron during their prime. Players that are catching 1,000-1300 yds a year while RBs are racking up near 2k total yds a year.
Just a quick dump of thoughts, but this would be impactful as to how I'd consider valuing WRs and RBs going forward, and whether or not to shore up a position for a long haul, where there might be significantly more expensive down the road. I'm thinking about even a few years ago when DJ and Bell were really the top two RB, and you would practically have to sell your entire team to get one, whereas now, there are quite a few RBs you could rotate around.

Re: Is the RB/WR paradigm shifting?
Basically we’ve moved steadily toward the era of both the high volume passing game and the pass catching running back. Those backs that are bellcows that also catch balls are the most valuable players in fantasy no doubt, so they’ve been pushed to the top of drafts. Scat backs have also seen a bump up in their value, but they aren’t near the top of drafts. On the other hand, committee backs, and even bellcows who don’t catch balls, have settled back a tier or two behind where they once were, making the elite pass catching bellcows even more valuable in comparison.
The elite WRs are very similar in value and consistency as ever, so they’re high up in drafts but have been surpassed by the elite backs. The big difference is the move to PPR or .5PPR scoring almost across the board in fantasy and the move toward featuring pass catching bellcows.

Re: Is the RB/WR paradigm shifting?
My league starts 2 RB, 2 WR and 3 FLEX. 5 years ago I would have started 5 WRs. Now I start 5 pass catching RBs. Elite pass catching backs will give you WR2 receiving stats AND RB1 stats. With ppr and .5 ppr you need to try to build your team around these RBs. DJ and Bell changed the way I looked at things a few years back

The paradigm shifted 1-2 years ago. See my thread from the summer of 2018 (and note that I received the same feedback by some that I am giving you!).

Re: Is the RB/WR paradigm shifting?
Thanks for replying everyone. I was able to read that other thread and really liked this one reply you got:
"I think you're a year or two too late on being ahead of that curve. If you haven't notice, RBs have been populating the 1st round in startups. Now if you truly want to get ahead of the curve I would stock up on young elite WRs like OBJ, Hopkins, Evans, or 2019 1st round picks. There are a ton of top 20 WRs who will age out over the next 3 years."
I'm starting to think, and based on both threads, that young staple WRs are going to become more and more devalued as RBs continue to stack up, especially with the top WRs aging out. We have a massive, young, generation of RBs right now and I think it'll continue to grow while the core WR1 pool will shrink. In my mind, it'll become more of a D. Adams(GB) who post 4 catches 70yds and a TD week in and out instead of a Julio with 11 catches 150+ yds and the occasional TD. Which means, finding players who can do that will become valuable going forward.
Following that train of thought, who would you value heavily as young WR targets to capitalize on that trend? Assuming players like AJG, AB, etc start to fade down the stretch, are the players to target C. Ridley, Golladay, C Davis?
