Ertz+ for?

Postby bills2 » Mon Jan 07, 2019 11:12 am

I'm looking to improve my WR group for the team in my sig and will use Ertz to do that. What type of WR should I be targeting? Keep in mind this is a TE premium, we are .5ppr but TEs are full ppr. Ertz was ranked 27th in total points scored for reference. I started two TEs this last year, but with Bell coming back I'm guessing he will be my flex.

If I sent out an offer of Ertz + Kupp for Hopkins, would that be close? Also curious how this type of offer would rank for AB, JuJu, OBJ and other WRs in that top tier.

In TE premium, I'd say Ertz more or less = Hopkins, maybe Ertz + 2nd due to the age difference. I wouldn't be willing to add Kupp to him for Hopkins. Basically I would value Kelce, Ertz, and Kittle around the same as the top tier of WRs, if not more due to positional scarcity.

I agree with this. I think Ertz+2nd is spot on. No way would I add Kupp to this if I were you. Production-wise, Ertz and Hopkins are very close. Kupp is a WR2 (You could easily argue WR1), and that would be an overpay imo.

As Ditka pointed out, positional scarcity really comes into play here. Only 3/4 owners will get Ertz-level production from their TE's, which can't be said about WR's. It is much easier to replace WR's than it is TE's.

Can I ask the obvious question...why are you trying to move Ertz in TE premium at all? You have Ertz at TE and should be flexing Kittle. Sure, you are thin at WR but I would rather be thin at WR than thin at TE in this league.

And you are right that's what I was doing all year. Started Luck, Barkley, Conner, Thomas, Adams, Kupp, Ertz, and Kittle. Then tried to piece things together after injuries.

I think Godert is going to eat into Ertz volume next year and Ertz's age. Plus if Bell comes back even somewhat close to what he has been I'll start three RBs with one taking that flex spot. I know Kittle will have some kind of reduced year just cause it will be hard to hit these numbers again, but I think he will still be a top te.

This is all the way through week 17, included WR for fun

RB:
Barkley - 359
Gurley - 348.5
CMC - 345.5
Kamara - 309.5
Zek - 295.5

TE:
Kelce - 308
Ertz - 287
Kittle - 277
Ebron - 227
Cook - 206

WR:
Tyreek - 317.5
Hopkins - 300.5
Adams - 292.5
AB - 291
Julio - 290.5
Thomas - 264
Kupp would've scored 248 if I take the 15.5 he averaged in his 8 games played over 16 games

based on your own math you are giving up 287 points at a thin position that is made premium in order to achieve 50 more points per season at the WR slot currently occupied by Kupp?

Yep and banking on Bell or whoever fills that flex spot to outscore Ertz over the next couple of years.

I think those top three TE's are all going to have a bit of regression next year. If they do, I might not not use my flex on a TE.

I really think that you should just flex Kittle/Ertz and move Bell if you want to improve Kupp

Even if you would also had Kelce on your Roster, i would consider keeping all top 3 TE.

Players sitting on your bench won't hurt you and won't help others...

You might score a few more points in total in your perfect lineup, but the team acquiring Ertz and Kupp will score much more in total... so it might not help you to win...

I would defenitly keep the position advantage here. And if you trade Ertz, don't include Kupp...

I would wait until bell signs with a new team, hype is high after the coach says they plan to feature him, and move him for someone else. As mentioned, you would be wise to keep your opponents from improving their TE position more than you improve whatever position you trade for. (Ertz for let's say diggs. For your opponent, Joe shmoe upgraded to ertz is more than your upgrade from kupp to diggs.)
