traded all 2020 picks

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

traded all 2020 picks

Postby CooperCrush » Thu Jan 03, 2019 1:23 pm

We just got our 2020 picks on Monday for team and Sig 2 and I have already traded them all away. I think I made some good moves to be a strong competitor next year.

I traded away 2020 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Lat Murray, Tajae Sharp

WR: AJB, DK, Godwin, Higgins, Pittman, London, J Williams, Sutton, Mooney,

Unless this is SF, this trade didn't help you at all for next yr imo.

-Ingram will be a 30 year old RB, and potentially out of New Orleans. He'll never start over Gurley or Zeke.
-Shepard is a WR3 at best, and definitely won't start of KA, Adams, Julio. I guess the move wasn't bad, when considering depth and age at WR.
-Ebron wasn't a need considering you own TE1 in Ertz.
-Cousins probably will never start over Rivers (again, unless SF).

The only player worth a first in the deal was Cousins and he most likely won't start for you most weeks. I feel as though you traded your entire 2020 class for backups essentially.
12 TEAM SUPERFLEX, TE Premium, 25 man rosters
QB - | Rodgers | Herbert | Mills
RB - CMC | Chubb | Dobbins | Keaontay Ingram
WR - McLaurin | Deebo | Waddle | Gabriel Davis | Elijah Moore | Mooney | C Ridley | Jameson Williams | Pickens | Alec Pierce | Wan'dale Robinson | Justyn Ross | B Edwards
TE - M Andrews | Friermuth

2023 Picks: 1st round(2), 2nd round(2), 3rd round (2)

I agree that I basically traded all picks for depth, however my thought was that whoever I pick with my (hopefully) late picks would most likely also be backups/depth/rostercloggers for my team

In a vacuum, assuming the picks are late, it's probably fair, but I agree with the other poster. Not sure I would've done this trade.

It's a 12 team league, depth should really be of no concern in the offseason. I would've let the 2019 season play out a little. Wait until you need the depth to trade for it and make sure those picks are late before you trade them away.

Also, whether right or wrong, the current perception of the 2020 class is that it's very strong. Trading those picks at the absolute earliest moment probably isn't maximizing their value.

I like the picks here, but I just don't have a lot of confidence in Ingram and Ebron going forward. I could also be a complete dumb bleep for feeling that way.

Not a fan of this trade at all. Ingram will soon be worthless as he gets older and will probably never start on your team. Cousins isn't worth a whole lot in a 1QB league. Shepard will probably be a backup caliber WR his entire career. Ebron is nice, but not worth that. Those picks will be worth so much more than that next year.

Probably not the best you could do, chalk it up and learn. But don't sweat it either. You may have made a bad move, may. Just move on and learn from it.

I don’t like this at all. It’s a bad trade but it could be worse I suppose.

I don't understand making a trade for the 2019 season at the end of 2018. What's the purpose? That 2020 1st round pick will hold value through next season where you can use it to trade for any in season help you may seek.

Come 2019, who knows what will happen. You could pick up a Phillip Lindsay talent in FA after week 1 and have a near RB1 for free, like I did :).

BTW, Cousins stinks. Has he not proven that yet? Minnesota will do all they can to take the ball out of his hands. I will be selling him for the best offer I can get this offseason, which may be an early 3rd round draft pick at best.

IMO, these are the types of trades that you might make in-season if needed to bolster an injured team for a championship run. At this point, you don't know if you'll need, for instance, Ingram, Shepard, both, or neither.

If you were in-season and needed these guys for a run, then absolutely -- that's why you have the picks. If you don't need them, though, then great -- you can still have your picks.

Put it this way: it seems like you fired all your bullets without knowing what the target is.
10 tms 27 plrs PPR
Start: 2QB 2RB 3WR 2TE 2Flex / best ball

QB: Herbert, Love, Rodgers, G Smith, Stidham, T Taylor, Hall
RB: McCaffrey, Mixon, Pacheco, Montgomery, Z White, Allgeier, Dillon
WR: Hill, St. Brown, Kupp, Allen, Lockett, B Johnson
TE: Kelce, Kmet, Kraft, Okonkwo, Dulcich, Tremble

2024: 2.09, 3.07, 3.08, 3.10, 4.08
2025: 2nd (x2), 4th, 5th (x2)
2026: 1st, 2nd (x2), 3rd, 4th, 5th

12 tms 22 active plyrs. Salary Cap $300 PPR
Start: 1QB 2RB 3WR 1TE 1SF 1Flex / best ball

QB: Lawrence (contract through 2026), Love ('24), Rodgers ('24), Stidham ('25), Lock ('25)
RB: Bijan Robinson ('25), Pollard ('27), Dillon ('24), Rodriguez ('24), Spiller ('24)
WR: G Wilson ('26), AJ Brown ('26), DJ Montgomery ('25)
