Kelce for fournette?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Kelce for fournette?

Postby Stamos19 » Tue Dec 04, 2018 9:14 pm

I got offered fournette for kelce. I need rbs, would you all take this trade? Will have to wait till off-season due to trade deadline passing. This whole hunt fiasco really hurt my rb situation.

Start 2 rbs, 1 te and one flex. I have Marlon Mack, Mark Ingram, Sony Michel and Kareem Hunt. Tight end wise I have Andrews from Baltimore as backup. I want to get that Iowa TE in rookie draft this year. Thanks for the help.

I really can’t think of any scenario where I’d prefer Fournette to Kelce straight up. Keep your stud.

Kelce produces nearly the same amount of points than Fournette, but in your TE slot…

I wouldn't do it...

Easy pass for me. Kelce is irreplaceable. Not even close in my book

I'd prefer Kelce the rest of the year but given you mentioned this wouldn't happen until the offseason, I would seriously consider it.

Lots of people talking about what Kelce is doing right now but the reality is to expect these massive numbers going forward from Kelce/Mahomes is a low percentage play. We've seen this story a million times before. Guy has a massive blow-up season and regresses back closer to his career averages after that. Kelce/Mahomes should still be great going forward but Mahomes is not going to throw for 55 TDs every year.

There is a lot of room for the KC offense to regress even while remaining one of the top 3 offenses in the league.

Even if Kelce regresses this is easily Kelce for me. To much of a positional advantage

I like Fournette here, but the TE position is absolutely a wasteland. I wouldn't blame you standing pat either. If I could get him to add a pick or something I'd love the trade more.

Yes but Kelce has been a top tight end for years now. This isn’t a fluke season. Kelce is and will be a stud (unless injured) and tight end is thinner than RB.

Well sure but these two things are not mutually exclusive. Kelce can be a top tight end for years and going forward and this still be a fluke season as it is likely a fluke season for the entire offense. Kelce would still a top TE at his usual 80-1000-7 baseline, but people are currently valuing him at his 106-1400-14 pace which will likely end up an outlier for his career.

It is very similar to Gronk's 90-1400-17 season. He remained a top TE for many years after that, but that was still a fluke season for his career.

I'm not saying that Fournette is more valuable than Kelce at his manageable baseline after the likely regression to his mean in future season, just that I think it's a mistake to assume this is his new baseline like when some in here have posted things like "Kelce is scoring as many points as Fournette". Kelce is unlikely to score this many points in future seasons as nearly every time we see one of these crazy years where the QB throws for 50+ TDs things regress quite a bit going forward.

Fournette has a higher ceiling week to week. He touches it 20-25 times. Guess I'm in the minority here. I'd rather start Herndon and hope for the best than start Ty Montgomery or some other flyer at RB.
