Trade Advice

Postby elk4521 » Thu Oct 18, 2018 11:26 am

For Team 1 in signature:

I offered:
AB, Brees (who is a QB1 in this league due to it's unique scoring) and McCoy
for
Golladay, Kupp, Kerryon, Winston, 3 1st rounder and 2 2nds.

He is in first place right now so I was hoping he would bite to help secure a championship for the next 2 - 3 years

I was told we aren't even close. Which is fair. Just wondering what the minimum you guys would take in return for brees, AB and McCoy. It's an 8 team league so 2nd round picks are a little more valuable.
8 tm (start 2 QB, 4 RB, 4WR, 2TE, 1K// 7 Bench). PPR, 5 pts per rush/rec TD, 3/-3 TD/INT, point per completion -1 for incompletion, standard yardage scoring.

QB: Mahomes, Mayfield, Carr, A. Smith
RB: J. Williams, Buck Allen, Penny, Wilkins, McKinnon, Bell, Ballage
WR: Evans, Landry, Gordon, Watkins, Doctson, Gallup, John Brown, MVS, Westbrook, Humphries,
TE: Seals-Jones, McDonald, Walker, Heuerman,
K: Elliott

=================================================================

12 tm (start QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLEX, 1 K, 1 DST) PPR, 6 pts per passing TD, standard yardage and TD scoring.

QB: Mahomes, Carr, Garoppolo
RB: DJ, Kamara, Lindsay, Powell, Ronald Jones, Wilkins, McKinnon
WR: Woods, Tate, Gordon, Godwin, Agholor, Mike Williams, Ross, Gallup, Doctson, Pryor

2-3 players or picks need to come off the trade , if not more. I'd start by taking 2 of your least favorite pieces out of his side and see what he thinks.
Team 1. 12 team. 1 PPR. 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX 2017 2nd, 2018 2nd, 2019 1st, 2020 1st, 2021 2nd, 2022 1st

TE - Kelce, J. Ferguson
2024 - 1,2,3,4,5
2025 - 1,2,3,4,5

Team 2. 12 team. .5 PPR. 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX 2019 1st, 2020 1st, 2021 2nd, 2023 Full rebuild mode

Yeah, that's not really close. Golladay, Kerryon and Kupp are all worth first round picks. So you are basically trying to trade AB for six first round picks and two second round picks. That's literally insane.

You probably need to drop off both second round picks and maybe one or two first round picks. Or drop off a couple of the players and a pick or two.

McCoy is basically worthless, especially in an 8 team league. QBs are also basically worthless, ESPECIALLY in an 8 team league. So yes, it's just AB.

I'm not sure I would even give the players alone if i was first already.
if Winston was my QB1 maybe, but Golladay, Kupp and Kerryon are great assets, with a future.

I'd probably give you Golladay OR Kupp, Winston, a 1st, 2 2nds, and tell you to keep shady.
but it depends on his team too.

It's an 8 team league but we start 2 Qbs and 4 Rbs so Neither McCoy or Brees is worthless. Brees is the best qb in our league by a landslide. He would be giving him an extra 25 points a week over who he is starting right now. McCoy got off to a slow start but I would say he is easily a top 20 RB for the rest of this season.

fair enough, but the other owner may disagree. shady won't finish too far off Kerryon.

Brees will give him extra points, but he's been doing alright so far, may fancy his chances of winning without dismantling the house and give you a thousand picks!

Where do I begin?

Brees is 39 years old. Winston is 24. It's an 8 team league.

Winston > Brees

"I would say he is easily a top 20 RB for the rest of the season" HAHAHAHA. No. McCoy is more around 30th. Johnson will finish ahead of him.

Kerryon Johnson > McCoy

That leaves AB for five first round picks and 2 second round picks.

Again. That is INSANE.

The fact that you are trying to defend this deal is ridiculous. You are not even in the same universe as the other owner.

Where do I begin. First off in my original post I said that I agreed it was too much and I said what is the minimum you guys would take. so take it easy. Secondly saying Winston > Brees is absolutely asinine. Brees has at least 2 more years left after this year and still playing at a high level. Brees has averaged 43.5 points per game so far this year. Winston but up 40 against a porous Atlanta team and 15 points against Chicago. as for McCoy I guarantee you that A) he finishes top 25 from this point forward and B) he puts up more points than Kerryon from this point forward. I do agree that long term Kerryon is the better prospect but if he is playing for the championship this year I think McCoy helps him more than Kerryon.

So as I said in my original post would do you think the minimum is I should take for AB, Brees, and McCoy.

Johnson, Winston, either Golladay or Kupp, only one of them, and probably a 1st round pick. Maybe a late 1st or early 2nd thrown in as well.

Given the league settings, here's how I would value this trade:

Brees more or less = Winston
Brown more or less = Golladay + Kupp + Kerryon
McCoy = two 2nds in a start 4RB format

So basically take out all the 1sts, and this would be close. The original offer was way off.

O.k. That's fair. That's the other thing I should have mentioned is that all of his 1st are likely going to be late. he has two in 2019 but they are the top two guys in the league right now. so you are saying essentially take out Kupp, and both 2nds and 1 of the 1sts.

I'll see if he sends me a counter and go back at him with Johnson, Winston, golladay and 2 1sts and 2nd and see if he bites. *fingers crossed*

I appreciate the help. I know brees doesn't seem like a great fantasy QB because by standard scoring he is usually a low end QB1 but in our weird points for completions and negative for incompletions as well as 3 pts for tds and -3 for ints his value sky rockets.

Starting 2 QBs in an 8 team league means that 16 are started each week and in theory each team could roster 4 NFL starting QBs. In a standard 12 team superflex, each team can't roster 3 NFL starting QBs, never mind 4. So QB values might be slightly inflated over your standard 1 QB, but they don't even reach superflex valuation. Add in that you somehow figured out Brees scores 25 more PPG than Winston when Winston only played one game so far this year, and a damn good one at that. That 15 points against Chicago you are referencing happened in half a game, and was his first game of the year.

As for McCoy, he is currently RB 42 in my PPR league, but you guarantee he is going to be a top 20 RB? How? The Bills just lost their best QB for a few weeks and have absolutely nothing at WR or TE. Teams are going to stack the box and make life difficult for him. You are over valuing your players. It happens. Accept that this deal is not going to work based on how you value your players and the other owner values his and move on.

Assuming the other owner thinks like the rest of the posters in this thread, take out Brees and McCoy and try to just sell him AB by taking your three favorite pieces from the original offer.

I appreciate all the feedback it's not so much that its a 2 QB league it's the way the scoring works. It rewards low ints and good completion pct. way higher than TDs which all lend themselves to Brees over Winston. I realize the game against Chicago wasn't a full game I was more pointing out that Brees has an average points per game over the whole season than Winston has in game against one of the worst pass defences in the league. I see you're point about McCoy but selling AB on his own isn't a good strategy for me. I'd rather either go full rebuild which I will need to do if I sell AB or just keep AB and hope for the best. Keeping Brees and McCoy doesn't make a lot of sense if I trade away AB.

He countered with Dak, Kerryon, Kupp, A. Miller a 2019 1st and a 2020 2nd

I'm going to go back at him with Winston, Kerryon, Golladay and 2 1sts. Thoughts? is that closer?
