This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Amari Cooper Trade

Postby cow_corner » Wed Sep 05, 2018 4:32 pm

I'm in desperate need of a decent WR but most folks in my league are asking silly money for anyone half decent. JuJu was quoted as two 1sts and a 2nd to me recently and it wasn't just an opening offer that was his best offer.

Now negotiating with a more reasonable owner a deal for Amari Cooper, I realize there is a big risk factor with him after last season but there is certainly a decent chance he will return to form. The current deal as it stands is:

I give:
2019 1st
2020 1st
Chase Edmonds
Tre'Quan Smith

I get:
Amari Cooper
2020 2nd
2020 3rd
Chris Carson

I don't like giving up two years of 1sts especially for a player I have reservations about but I feel I need to take a bit of a gamble here.

Therefore I thought I would put it out to the community and see what people's onions are. Any feedback would be most welcome.

Thanks.

Looking at your roster, I think your 2019 and probably even 2020 1sts end up being 1.01 or close to it. For an 8 team league, that roster looks rough and I don't think adding Cooper changes it much. I'd go the opposite direction and try to move most of your valuable assets for picks.

Don't like Amari. If those firsts weren't early, I'd feel that was good value.

I wouldn't make the trade. Your picks will have more value approaching those drafts. Feel like you would be giving up to much. My advice is, stay put, work the wire to upgrade your wr, and draft top wr 2019 1st.

I like Cooper and I would pay that for him if they were last 1sts but your team looks awful. It looks like youd have the 1.01 in a 12 teamer but I can't see you winning a single game this or or next. I would not give up the 2019 1.01 + 2020 1.01 for Cooper.

My thinking exactly seeing your roster. Cooper doesn’t make your team near a contender. I’d look to sell off most assets, build around Guice and Cook.

I'll just pile on here....you need to blow up your team and acquire picks.

Players to Keep:Cook/Guice/Thompson for RB. Golladay/Ridley/Trequan Smith/Quinn for WR. Blowup your TE's. I don't know much about IDP so I cant give advice for you in that department.

I'd honestly see if the Juju owner would trade Tate+Ridley for him. Cobb should get an early second but I'd wait until midseason because he's about to bounceback as Rodgers #2. I'd be looking to move Olsen/Reed/Clay for Njoku and maybe get lucky and grab HH since he's injured. For Ajayi I think he has a good year and you may be able to get a guy like kerryon/Michel for him before they breakout midseason.

Thanks everyone for the great advice!

Goddard yes you are right they will probably be 1.01 or 1.02. I actually won the league in 2016 mainly on the back on a strong defense but a raft of retirements and an ageing team in general meant I finished 2nd bottom last season and I don't envisage placing any better than that this season.

You guys are right, time to rebuild the team by acquiring picks, not giving them up!

Thanks for putting me back on the right path, especially the advice on the right time to sell some key players. Much appreciated guys!

If you do end up with 1.02 you may be able to pair that with a later pick (2nd or 3rd) for Coop once The Rookie Fever hits a dynasty wide pandemic.
All my teams suck. And I'm not in your league.
