Allison or a rookie at 3.01?

Postby Avery » Thu Aug 30, 2018 6:31 am

Team 2 below and picking at 3.01 and most of the usual suspects are off the board in the rookie/FA draft and noticed that Allison is available as well.

I've listed what I see as the best of the rest (Mayfield was just picked) and I'm curious who the braintrust here at DLF thinking I should draft and furthermore where you would slot Allison into the rookie WRs now that he has reportedly locked down (at least) the WR3 job in a stable Rodgers lead offense.

WR is still a need for me I'm fine passing on the position here if someone else jump out - toying with the idea of Lamar Jackson as well...

Below is a list of the rookie WRs ranked according to some experts out there. Bold players are still available in this draft for reference.

Thanks so much for chiming in!

Thanks for replying!

I was set to grab Mayfield but have been intrigued with the upside of Jackson for some time. In another league I just couldn't pull the trigger of Jackson over Mayfield (I took Mayfield there).

In defense of Jackson, in this league we get a lot of point for yardage so to compare some rushing and passing stats (as Jackson's contributions are expected to be a combination of both):
300 yards passing = 15 points
88 rushing yards = 15 points

So Jackson passing for 200 and rushing for 50 yards would we worth 18.5 points all on it's own. Pretty intriguing although all TDs (passing, receiving and rushing) are all 6 points so that doesn't give him a bump there.

Swapped my 2nd for his 3rd next year.

His 3rd should be high and mine 2nd should be fairly low I would think.

He well could be and I see considerable risk there but I'm intrigued at the upside. Not giving up much to get him. The main risk to me is clogging up a roster spot until we find out who he really is as a QB.

Not much love for Allison here. I'm chalking that up to a bit of rookie fever. He's only 24 years old, Rodgers likes him and he's set to get a big share of the GB passing game with Cobb there. Now if Cobb leaves, he moves up.

What's not to like?

He'll definitely have the first shot but there are a number of rookies and Kudrow looking to take some reps should Cobb step aside.

Same could be said for the picture in JAC but Chark has more impressive credentials in my opinion.

Shark move. Nice job.

FWIW I voted Jackson. I like Allison but ultimately I don't believe he is special. Just a decent WR2 in a great situation. In not saying that doesn't have value, just that finding similar value in other players isn't that difficult.

Jackson IMO has the potential to be special. And you're team is the perfect spot for him.You don't need him to do anything this year. Rodgers is going to do Rodgers things and you can let Jackson percolate on the bench. If he is the next RG3 then you cut bait and no harm done. If he is the next less dog murdery Mike Vick then you got a top 5-ish QB at bargain prices.
