I have an owners in a league that insists that a 2019 pick is exactly equal to a 2020 pick. I don't agree. I'm under the thought that a 2019 pick is about one round worse because you have to wait extra time to see value with that pick. For example, a 2019 3rd is equal to a 2020 2nd.
Am I wrong to think of it this way? How do you value future picks?

Re: future draft pick values??
I think this changes owner to owner. For me, cuts (if your league has cuts) play a huge factor in valuing picks year to year if you are giving guys time to grow and don't want picks in an upcoming draft. Some owners have their eye on a player 2 years out and may value a pick further out then others. Picks a year or 2 down the road always seem cheaper to me but every owner values things much differently then the next.

Here is a little league info. This is a full IDP dynasty league, 53 player rosters during the season and 75 man rosters during the off season. So there is plenty of room to stash guys.

Yeah, I don't discount them, because the always mature to full value. Now sometimes I'll pay up, like I payed a projected late 2019 second and 4th to get 3.02 when Pettis fell. I felt it was worth it in that case. Most expect a premium in order to wait another year.buckysGT wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 7:56 am I have an owners in a league that insists that a 2019 pick is exactly equal to a 2020 pick. I agree. For me so much is based on roster size/make up as well as preference and need. Like I have a few guys in the 2020 class I want(Im a devy guy) so in leagues where I can Im already selling 19 first rd picks for a 2020 first and 2nd... Id say the diff in value is when trading FOR a future pick you have to wait longer to collect on the 20 pick than the 19 pick

These are the guys you take advantage of. If that’s how he thinks, give him all of your 2020s for his 2019s. Time value is a thing.buckysGT wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 7:56 am I have an owners in a league that insists that a 2019 pick is exactly equal to a 2020 pick. I don't agree. I tried that last year trying to prove a point. Couldn't reason with this guy.Hahaclintondix wrote: ↑Sun Aug 05, 2018 9:59 amThese are the guys you take advantage of.
