The reality is even the "best" rankings are not very accurate. Few "experts" will hit on 60% of their projections, and when they do, they'll likely come back to the norm the following year. There are just too many variables. So its really about getting as much information as possible and forming your own conclusions. I think Playerprofiler provides the information in a fun and entertaining way, but they are no more accurate than any other service. Just my opinion.....

+1

This is why DLF's rankings are very useful because they are the aggregate of their writers rankings. If you want to add in PlayerProfiler's rankings and UTH's into DLF for another average that would probably be useful too.

I like DLF because it is thorough, has a good forum, & is affordable.

Just one man's opinion, but their free to use tools and analysis are more useful than their rankings.
I use them all the time to see a player's profile, advanced metrics, breakout age etc., but see no added value from buying their paid only information.

The best website by far I believe is paying for PFF Edge. Its like $30 a year and it gives you tons and tons of content as far as statistical data and analysis by their writers and I believe they have very solid rankings. Jeff Ratcliffe is a man who knows what he's talking about. Has dynasty rankings by 5 different analysts on the site as well as multiple scoring formats, rookie rankings, 2018 rankings and then weekly rankings throughout the year to give you an idea what their personal thoughts are about start/sit decisions as well as enough articles anyone to ever needs. That coupled with rotoworld to stay up to date on any type of new developments are what my main sources of information come from.

Sorry, It's been on autopay for the pas 2 years but I have been very pleased year in and year out. It also goes extremely in depth with their rookie analysis in their pff draft guide, its geared more towards actual NFL vs fantasy but it gives tons and tons of stats and data to backup why they view certain players higher than others on their draft board. Great way to assist in scouting.

There’s so much free content, I don’t understand why people pay?!?! Matt Kelly is a funny podcast host, but he is a stats grinder and misses on a lot of players. Go back and listen to his takes from last year. He was burying Dalvin Cook and Desean Watson. Take it for what it’s worth. It’s an opinion, but all that extra data won’t help you as a casual fantasy player imo. Film is far more predictive.
10 team 0.5 PPR, QB, 2 RB/WR, Flex, TE

RB: Ajayi, Drake, Cohen, Jamaal Williams, Carson
WR: OBJ, Julio, Fitz, Watkins, Crabtree, Enunwa, Matthews
TE: Reed
2018 picks: 1.02, 1.06, 4.02, 5.02...

No he is not. He's always yelling like an imbecile. That's not my idea of humor.

Full disclosure: I do some editing work for PlayerProfiler and get a free sub to the site, so I’m probably a little biased. I don’t actially get paid BY the site and I don’t have any financial stake in getting anyone to sign up. It’s basically just a quid pro quo type of arrangement, but my journalistic ethics compel me to at least mention that up front.

With that out of the way, I think the site’s usefulness and value is entirely dependent on a couple factors:

1. How much credence you put into objective metrics and measurables vs. subjective film watching

2. How deeply you want to dig into said measurables

I find Matt Kelley’s podcast to be highly entertaining and informative, which is why I reached out to him in the first place. That said, I haven’t even really scratched the surface of all the data analysis tools on the site. Much of it is a little too high-level for me. If you’re a big fan of number crunching and comparing different stats and variables against one another, there is a ton of sortable statistical info on the site. A lot of that super analytical stuff kinda makes my eyes glaze over, but I do appreciate that he’s pretty much planted his flag on an analytics-based approach to fantasy, for better or worse.

Yes, he’s had his fair share of misses. In addition to Watson and Cook, he was also down on Tyreek and Kupp last offseason. But he also acknowledges his bad takes and makes an effort to glean information from them to avoid future misses. I think the main reason Kelley’s incorrect predictions tend to stand out more is that all of his predictions are very brash and assertive. He doesn’t couch them with a bunch of contingencies like “if A, B and/or C happen, then Player X might/should have a good season.”

Another thing to take into account is how much you actually invest into fantasy football in any given year. If you play in mostly free or low stakes leagues, shelling out $85 for an “all-in” subscription on PP probably doesn’t make much financial sense, even if you do buy into the analytics-based approach. I know you can buy just the rankings alone for less, and we also just completed a new draft kit, which I believe is also available as a standalone product. Not sure of the exact pricing, and I don’t want to come off as a shill anyway, but you could always just dip your toes in the water with one of those options, if you’re so inclined.

I think it’d be pretty tacky for me to get on the message boards of one paid site and try to convince you to sign up for a different paid site. I would just suggest listening to a few of Matt’s podcasts and see if you like his approach to the game and then decide for yourself if you think the info on his site is worth paying for.

Too long, didn’t read summary: Playerprofiler and associated podcast has an overblown sense of self. But maybe it’s the personality behind it, rather than the site. But, no, not worth it to me.
——-

Longer version: Here’s what I use (among others...)
DLF cannot be underestimated on its content and rankings. Been here for years and years. The “Kens” and team have really grown this into something and are one of the few sites really working to continually improve, not just phone it in.

So DLF and PFF Edge (Ratcliffe is the man) are the only two sites I pay for (and I HATE paying for sites). And the Rotoworld app (free) for my news-junkie fix during the workday. Dynasty Nerds, Football Guys (Bloom and Lammey), and PFF/DLF for podcasts. I dont need “entertainment” and rants. Just need facts and data and logic (and humor helps).

Also have a brain... watch your own tape too if you really want to go all in. But don’t follow any site blindly, but rather supplement your own opinions and observations. As you can see from above, I have a hard time telling you just one site or source... I find the best dynasty players are obsessed and are info junkies who crave more and more, even opposing viewpoints
