Hardesty for Wallace?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Hardesty for Wallace?

Postby imschley2 » Wed Dec 08, 2010 6:28 pm

I have a possible off season trade of my season long IR project Montario Hardesty for possible up and comer Mike Wallace, I have no way of judging what Hardesty's role will be but I have solid Running Backs (MJD, Mendenhall, RunDMC starters) and needs at WR (Harvin, Crabtree, Britt, Knox choices). This years WR class is stacked and I want ot maximize the value I get out of this trade but don't have much experience trading. Please Help.
Thanks,
Sly

Hey Sly, welcome to the forum!

I would move Hardesty for Wallace in a heartbeat, especially considering your situation...but then again, I'm "Steelersfan", not "Brownsfan"... :D

BTW, I think we have a new forum name for you Shawn...

I agree with this. Wallace has a ton of upside still and already has shown a lot. Definitely a good deal

  Sometimes I like to keep it secret that I'm "Brownsfan"

Seriously though, in this trade I would actually do the same and trade for Wallace

I can't see a straight up trade being able to acquire Wallace for Hardesty, but if you can you have done extremely well.
If you can't leave at least a 20% tip, you can't afford to eat out.

Wallace value will hold for years. I don't know what will happen with Hardesty.

That would actually be a tough call for me. I guess if I was a big believer in Hardesty returning to full health and working his way eventually into a starting gig I would hold him. I would need to see more from Wallace to trade a potential RB2 for him, but alas: Hardesty's knee injury history and the presence of Peyton Hillis has seriously cooled me on him.

Wallace is fast and exciting, but relies a lot on long bombs for fantasy production. He could top out at Devery Henderson...and while I think he's better than that, he has just three games with more than 3 receptions in 12 games, which causes me not to doubt his talent as much as his fantasy consistency week to week and long-term. He doesn't catch a lot of 'possession' type routes in part due to his tall, lean frame - that's just not really his skillset (at least thus far). I think there is a real chance Wallace tops out in WR3 or perhaps WR2 territory.
