This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Startup Team Grade

Postby jp4703 » Tue May 08, 2018 12:41 pm

I finished doing a startup draft yesterday for one of the DFL leagues. Just trying to see what people think of this team. Below are the league requirements on starters:

1 Quarterback
2 Running Backs
3 Wide Receivers
1 Tight End
3 Flex Player (RB/WR/TE)
18 Bench Spots

12 team, 1PPR, 6PT TD Throw, -4 INT.

QB: Andrew Luck, and Alex Smith
RB: S. Barkley, D. Guice, A. Jones, M. Mack, M. Lynch, D. Martin, J. Stewart, C. Artis-Payne, P. Barber, M. Davis, D. Henderson, and C. Ivory.
WR: A. Brown, M. Evans, A. Cooper, C. Kupp, K. Benjamin, C. Godwin, J. Kearse, K. Stills, T. Pryor, Tyrell Williams, and J. Maclin.
TE: G. Olsen, C. Clay, and G. Everett

By the looks of it my team looks like the best overall team in the league depending on how Barkley and Guice do. I think RB and TE could be my weakest positions. I took a lot of "next man up" RB's hoping that one of the rookies in this class don't pan out and I can get a RB4 that way. For TE's I really wasn't too worried because I can always either trade for one, or draft one at some point.
16 team - 42rosters - 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2FLEX, 1PK, 3DE/DL, 2DB, 2LB, 1DFLEX
QB: D. Brees, M. Stafford.
RB: L. Bell, D. Cook, J. Conner, M. Sanders, A. Blue, J. Ajayi, A. Barnes.
WR: M. Thomas, A.J. Green, J. Jones, C. Godwin, Z. Jones, J. Reynolds, K. Kirkwood, J. Moore, J. Hurd, T. Benjamin.
TE: Z. Ertz, J. Smith, M. Andrews, D. Waller, J. Sternberger.
K: M. Badgley.
DB: L. Collins, J. Johnson, J. Tart, C. Geathers, M. Blair.
DL: C. Dunlap, D. Barnett, J. Casey, B. Graham, G. McCoy, J. Allen.
LB: T. Whitehead, J. Hicks, J. Collins, J. Brown, K. White, G. Avery, C. Barton, B. Cashman, J. Ryan, J. Tavai, Q. Williams.
Picks:
2020: 2, 4, 4, 5
2021: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

I'm surprised AB and Evans dropped that far. Kind of sucks that you hard to give up so much next season but looks it was worth it to me cause your team is awesome, especially if Andrew Luck comes back this season. Stacked team, championship contender.
14 Tm ppr (rebuilding)
QB Wentz, Carr, MacJ
RB Mixon, Ty'son, Gaskin, McKinnon, Coleman, David Johnson, Freeman, Darrel Williams, J.Patrick, Ahmed, Dobbins, Hasty
WR Hopkins, T.Patrick, E.Moore
TE Jarwin, Ertz, Knox, Tremble
Picks: 22 (1,1,1,2,2,3) 23 (1,1,1,2,2,3)

12 Tm .5 ppr
QB Stafford, Hurts, MacJ, KMond
RB Zeke, Fournette, White, Mostert, Coleman, Pollard, Dallas, Perine, B.Scott, Nwangwu, Hawkins
WR Amari, Tyreek, KA, Chark, Renfrow, Agholor, Patterson
TE Fant, Knox, Doyle, Allie-Cox

12 Tm SF, TE+, ppr
QB Ryan, Winston, Mills, Minshew, Tua
RB Gordon, Carson, Harris, Hunt, Duke, D'Ernest, Dillon
WR Jefferson, Boyd, Ruggs, Davis, Parker, Hamler, Robby, Miller, E.Moore, Rodgers, Tre'Quan
TE Hooper, Conklin, Jarwin, Doyle, JuwanJ

14 Tm ppr
QB Stafford, Bridgewater, Fields
RB Hines, Harris, R.Jones, Murray, Freeman, J,Kelley, Hasty

I'm actually hoping that some of those "next man up" RB's pan out so I can trade them for some picks during the season. It should be interesting to see how trades work because I'm not used to 28 player rosters without defense or kickers.
16 team - 42rosters - 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2FLEX, 1PK, 3DE/DL, 2DB, 2LB, 1DFLEX
QB: D. Brees, M. Stafford.
RB: L. Bell, D. Cook, J. Conner, M. Sanders, A. Blue, J. Ajayi, A. Barnes.
WR: M. Thomas, A.J. Green, J. Jones, C. Godwin, Z. Jones, J. Reynolds, K. Kirkwood, J. Moore, J. Hurd, T. Benjamin.
TE: Z. Ertz, J. Smith, M. Andrews, D. Waller, J. Sternberger.
K: M. Badgley.
DB: L. Collins, J. Johnson, J. Tart, C. Geathers, M. Blair.
DL: C. Dunlap, D. Barnett, J. Casey, B. Graham, G. McCoy, J. Allen.
LB: T. Whitehead, J. Hicks, J. Collins, J. Brown, K. White, G. Avery, C. Barton, B. Cashman, J. Ryan, J. Tavai, Q. Williams.
Picks:
2020: 2, 4, 4, 5
2021: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

The most insane part to me is Evans falling to 2.04, sounds more like where he gets taken in a redraft league. If I were to nitpick, you may want an RB2 that contributes more immediately if Guice doesn't start strong. Just curious, what pick did you take Saquon with?
20 man Rosters PPR start QB, 2RB, 3WR, TE, Flex (WR,RB,TE) K DEF 12 teams $220 cap

I took SB with the 5th overall, yes I reached but I'm a Giants fan so I had too. Knowing that I also had 1.09 made it a bit easier for me to take SB at 5(was a hard choice though). It worked out good though since AB fell, so I can make myself feel better by pretending I took AB at 1.05, and SB at 1.09.

Looks good as long as your young RBs meet expectations.

Your team looks stacked and that’s nuts that you were offered that trade, what were they thinking? My DLF startup is still going, 28 rounds takes so long but I’ve enjoyed it and other than trading back a few times, there hasn’t been many trades in my startup. One owner did select RBs for his first 7 picks, I’ve never seen that before and I’ve been in a bunch of drafts.
