Would you give up Barkley for the 1.02 + 1.03?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Would you give up Barkley for the 1.02 + 1.03?

Postby albedo1986 » Thu May 03, 2018 1:57 pm

1QB/8Flex, PPR

Having the 1.01 for quite some time keeps making me ponder these kind of trades. The logic in me screams to take this deal. I feel like you can either turn this into 2 stud RBs or take 1 stud and trade out of one to nail another stud you like, the 1.02 can net you some serious veteran action...I'm somewhat confident I could get an AJ Green/Adams/Arob level talent at WR...someone either talk me on or off the cliff? I almost want to be out of the 1.01 just to not carry this risk level now that Barkley is basically going within the top 6-7 in a start up already.

I too have Barkley and ask myself the same questions. I look at it this way

If I knew I had 21 year old ladainian tomlinson, what would i need in return to trade that away? Sure you can get multiple assets, but all that fire power in 1 roster spot is big time

Also if I knew I had 21 year old LT, do I wanna be the guy that traded him away in dynasty?

What if that's 21 year old DMC, not LT?

Then you get a couple good years and it's a miss. Oh well it happens. Much better than watching Saquon go on to tear through the league all the way to the HOF while your 2 pick is a RB1 - 2 for 3-4 years and the 3 pick is a miss

I would be willing to take the chance that Barkley is the real deal. I know some would rather have 2 other top prospects (1.02 +1.03) but they could bust too. It comes down to which risk you choose to take.

Current value is on the 1.01 side, but if I owned the pick, I'd strongly consider making this trade. I'd at least start by asking for more and see what else they would be willing to add.

I'm not moving the 1.01 unless I get a known stud back. No exceptions

Personally think I would likely move the 1.02 for a stud or move back and a piece - probably try to snowball this during the draft, something to this effect. I would consider taking Guice or Penny (although I do have Chubb as a better talent I'm afraid he's gonna get Mixon'd this year and loose some of that immediate value)

But this is also why I wouldn't mind moving them for assets because I think people are over-valuing this just a little and almost prefer just no playing the lottery this year and get some known products.

Search function is failing me here.

Curious how people feel about Bell vs Barkley? I am getting slammed with offers.

If I was offered Bell that's very tempting. My team has a couple players to go still - year 2 of an orphan purchase and I have grown more fond of Barkley since the draft.

Tough call. Interesting that you are getting slammed with offers. I'm not getting many which surprised me a bit.

Huge mistake if you make this trade. 1.2 and 1.3 aren’t really that pretty. I’ve seen people struggle and want to trade out of those picks in each of my league so far. The drop off is huge from Barkley to the next guys.

Also, 2 years ago a guy in my league traded 1.1 for 1.2 and 1.3 thinking he got a great deal.

1.1 was Zeke

1.2 and 1.3- Treadwell and Doctson

Let that sink in.

In 2014 the #1 pick was Watkins. Evans went #2. 2012 the top pick was Gio Bernard followed by Lacy and Ball. Both Bell and Hopkins were after all 3. 2015 the top pick was Gurley followed by Cooper and Gordon. Last off season you couldn't have bought Cooper straight up for Gurley. Right now that's still a pretty balanced deal even after Cooper's 2017...

Even last season the top pick was either Fournette or Davis. At the moment how many RBs from last season would you take ahead of Davis? I count at least 5 and Fournette isn't the top one. He's fighting for #3.
