McKinnon + for 1.04

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

McKinnon + for 1.04

Postby Krissi24 » Thu Apr 19, 2018 12:27 pm

I got offered Mckinnon and 2020 2nd round for 1.04.....
I am really excited about McKinnon in San Francisco and I am little worried about production and outlook for Chubb and Penny, which I am thinking of selecting with 1.04.
Thoughts?

Remember last year and everyone was like "Shannahan beat the table for Joe Williams!"...

I would personally take the 1.04 for the sheer fact that the value should hold up for the next year while McKinnon's could drop come this time next week.

I don't think it's terrible if you believe in McKinnon. The 2020 2nd is pretty far out though. I'd counter with a 2019 2nd if possible.

1.04 is too expensive. I'd need a '19 1st added to McKinnon.

If this were 1.05, I'd argue the McKinnon side from a few angles. With a tier drop off after 1.04 (at this time, who knows if it will be 1.03 or 1.06 after the draft), it is about the breaking point for me for McKinnon. A 2020 draft pick doesn't add really anything to me at this point outside of a 1R, so I'll go 55/45 on 1.04 being the right answer here, but am not onboard with this being a no brainer 1.04 side of the deal.

I think McKinnon is slated to be much more than a scatback/joker, but just because he is given the opportunity doesn't mean he is going to excel with it. Just put me on the side that thinks McKinnon will be prime Woodhead+.

I would keep the 1.04. Your trading partner doesnt have much confidence that the 49ers wont draft another back to at minimum share the carries.

Yes, but he didn't beat the table to the tune of 7.5 million per year, good enough for 4th highest paid back in the league. I agree that he could get a drop in value, if they take a RB early, but I think we should expect them to take a RB at some point. Joe Williams and Breida are not what they want to have as their other options. McKinnon is going to get on the field plenty, I don't think people should expect 25 touches a game, but rather quality touches. He's going to be an excellent PPR back this year.
