Denver Backfield

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Denver Backfield

Postby gerg4747 » Mon Apr 16, 2018 11:57 am

With the news of CJA being cut, how does everyone think Denver's backfield will shake out?

Booker? Henderson? Draft pick?

Any of these guys worth a buy low or sell high?

I don't see Denver drafting Barkley, but I do think they'll take someone in one of the other rounds who eventually becomes the starter. As of now, I'd say Booker is the favorite to start, but don't think he's very good.

Booker has looked pretty gross even when he is available.
I think De'Angelo Henderson has a real shot to claim this backfield.
https://www.playerprofiler.com/nfl/deangelo-henderson/

91% BMI, Strong, Fast, 94% dominator ranking, and was explosive each time he was given opportunities.
One thing to keep in mind is he is fairly old for a second year player, already over 25 years old, so if he does end up hitting, he might be a good candidate to sell after this season or next season.

2nd round pick who starts right away... I think the timing of CJAs cut was just a nice smokescreen lol, now bills think: "oh nice we just have to trade up to 6 to get our boy..." ;)

I doubt they draft Barkley.

But I could see them drafting an RB in Day 2 or early Day 3.

Agreed. 2nd or 3rd round back that will take Booker's place on the depth chart.

Broncos have a lot of holes so its not guaranteed that they use one of their top picks on a RB. If they don't draft a RB by round 4, it's pretty safe to assume Booker will be the starter week 1. While he hasn't shown anything of note in his NFL career, there have been arguably worse starting RB in the NFL in recent years (Rob Kelley, Terrence West, SEA Eddie Lacy ...).

Booker had an exciting profile coming out of college. He's been hampered by injuries thus far in his career so it's too soon for me to tell if hes a bust or not.
