Gurley/Zeke

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

This is about as even as it gets, IMO. I dont think there is a big difference in their ceilings. In PRR the slight edge goes to Gurley only because he is used more in the passing game. In Standard, its even closer. Gurleys ceiling was probably the 2017 season. i dont think we have seen Zekes yet since he has only played 1.5 seasons.

2016 Zeke's Rookie Year - 2000 yards from scrimmage, 16TDs, 32 recs = 328 PPR points / 296 standard
2017 Gurley's Insane Year - 2100 yards from scrimmage and 19TDs, 64 recs = 388 PPR points / 324 standard.

Another thing to note: Zeke played 10/16 games and still finished as an RB1. In the games he did play, he AVERAGED 120 yards from scrimmage and 1 touchdown per game. Therefore, if he had played the full season, he would have been a close RB2 to Gurley's RB1 finish this year.

I was about to make this same thread. I prefer Gurley slightly more in PPR after what he did last year in the passing game. In all other formats, they're even to me. Gurley has the injury, Zeke has the DV BS.

This.

Two years ago everybody was down on Gurley for a bad year. Now everybody is crazy over him. Let's average that good/bad out and call him even with Zeke. The more productive back any given year could go either way.

Non-ppr I would take Zeke. PPR I would take Gurley. But for the most part they are pretty well even to me, maybe a second on top of one depending on the format.
10-Team League, Non-PPR (QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, WR/RB/TE)
QB: Love, Watson, Cousins
RB: JT, Kyren, BRob, Roschon, Miles
WR: AJB, Wilson, Waddle, Puka, Higgins, Hopkins, Jeudy, Jameson Williams
TE: Okonkwo, Thomas
2024: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 4th, 5th

Fezzik wrote: Fri Apr 13, 2018 8:01 am I am a Gurley owner in multiple leagues. He's about the same talent level as Zeke in my opinion. I'd prefer to have Gurley by a little bit. But for Zeke plus almost anything tangible - call it 2.01 - I'd probably sell. Situation affects RB so much; look at a year ago, people would have laughed at you in the face if you offered Gurley straight up for Zeke.

Zeke does have a little bit of knucklehead to him, even though the suspension was kinda bullsh!t.

They're both locked into good situations for another couple of years, assuming the Rams pick up the 5th year option on Gurley (they may already have I didn't look).

I guess I wouldn't sell on a strong contender for Zeke plus 2.01, but for a modest contender or a rebuild I would. The gap isn't as big as people are making it out to be.

This. Keep Zeke. Seems some people are caught up in “what have you done for me lately.”

Zeke is a beast. Albeit a knucklehead beast but a beast nonetheless. If you really wanted Gurley than tack on a 2nd but nothing more than that or you’re really overpaying.

You said it's him that's approaching you? He obviously is trying to capitalize on the slight depression in Zeke's value and Gurley's being all time high. What he's asking is crazy imo.

No way is Gurley worth any more than Zeke plus a 2nd. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Zeke has a better year fantasy-wise than Gurley in 2018.

Yes, I agree completely. I countered with Zeke plus a future 2nd, and won't go any higher than that
