Players you’re avoiding like the plague

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

I think it's intent is to identify a single player or two that you absolutely think will be a total bust. Like Terrelle Pryor was or Doug Martin.

The very fabric of this discussion has become unraveled and left threadbare. Extensive lists of players you may not like but cannot possibly think they wouldn't be of some use.

My player is Marshawn Lynch. Not that I don't think he could be a very good RB 2 but there's a lot of volatility between Chuckie and BeastMode with their confrontational styles . Could easily see it going south and Lynch getting released as easily as him running for 1000 yds & 8-10 TD's. Let someone else play Oakland Roulette. I'll look elsewhere for RB production.
TBH I think it's people just putting up some players they think are going a lot higher in drafts than they should , I did the same no harm in it

Everyone not on team 1 or 2 below is garbage.

But on reals my stay away list:

Hyde - Barkley potentially
Kamara - cost/expectation

For me it's Devonta Freeman.

His angry running style and concussion history are just a terrible combination.

Don't understand this one. He got blindsided and concussed. Had he been 6ft3 215 LBS he probably would have been knocked out by that hit. He turned into it, never saw it coming and the guy had a huge run at him. Also, he's not "tiny", unless you consider AB tiny. Cooks is the same height and is listed as 8 Lbs heavier than AB. It's not like he's Tavon Austin size or something.

Funny enough, a good 50% of these name drops will be way off.

Curious as to why David Johnson?
far too expensive to get in correlation to what i think he brings to the table. if i'm gonna pay that kinda price im going after leveon bell or zeke etc, and honestly i dont think dj is nearly as valuable as many rank him to be but i've been saying that from the beginning on him lol
DJ wasn’t high on my radar when he came out of college but I thought he flashed special elite talent as a rookie when he finished as a top 10 RB on limited carries as a backup. I traded Evans+ for him that offseason. A lot of people here were still low on him then saying things like the performance wouldn’t translate with a full work load, that he would lose carries to an elderly Chris Johnson, and even compared him to Andre Ellington. Lol. What he did was put up a monster season. His performance has always been elite. Personally I wouldn’t trade him for Zeke or Bell. He’s older but has far fewer NFL touches than those guys especially Bell. And he has no off the field concerns like those guys.

I’ve never been a Hyde truther and in even lower on him now that he’s gone to browns. I certainly don’t condone Mixon for off field issues. What he did was disgusting. However as a football player he’s not on my “never” list yet. I think he can turn in a better sophomore season but I’m not holding my breath for rb1 numbers.

sadly, many of the players i would like to avoid are already on some of my teams: watkins, moncrief, crowell etc
but, like any season...players on an avoid list come pretty cheaply, see 2017 Agholor...i told myself i would not draft him in a startup, but he was difficult to ignore when you are in the 17th round of a startup...i feel that will be true for most of the players put on this list...
team 1 -start QB RB 2WR TE 2RB/WR 1WR/TE
qbs=5pt tds wr/te=1 ppr rbs=.5ppr all get .25ppc
Watson, Brady, Mills
Ekeler, Hunt, Carson/Penny, DForeman, Mitchell, CPat, Kyren, Ford, KHarris
Cooper, sutton, Chase, Shepard, Atwell, Schwartz, Wan'Dale, Austin III
Gesicki, Engram, Hooper, Woods
team 2 -start QB 2RB 3WR TE 2Flex K D
Cousins, Stafford
DH JT, Ekeler, Kylin Hill, Herbert, KHarris, Chandler
Hopkins, Diggs, Adams, Godwin, McLaurin, Callaway, DPJ, Robby Anderson, Schwartz, Pierce, Wan'Dale, Doubs

Cincy o-line probably another piece or two away, but I'm staying hopeful for him this season too. If anything, he's probably a better buy low value for guys that don't already own him than an "avoid like the plague" kinda guy IMO.

How about CMC? He's a mediocre at best runner and he's gonna get force fed targets for only so long. Yes Turner will utilize him but he also likes a strong, powerful run game. Emmitt Smith, Stephen Davis, LaMont Jordan, AP, Frank Gore, LT........

J. Edelman

Honestly I don't want any of the NE Patriots (for varying reasons) but I think that too many will attempt to completely ignore Edelman's age, coming off of injury AND muddled target situation from an aging QB who very well may be at odds with the coach..

I agree with the poster that says "avoid them like the plague" and "won't touch for what it takes to get them" are two different scenarios.

So to go with the avoid them like the plague scenario--

CJA--always always disliked this guy--I have watched nearly every Broncos game ever played for the last 5 years and I just don't see it. To me he always looked like a liability more than an asset. EVERY trade offer that comes my way with CJA as part of the offer is an immediate decline. I took over 2 orphan teams in the past 3 years that had CJA. My immediate first action in both cases was to vigorously offer him in as many trades as possible until he was off my roster.

Joe Mixon--I said before all my rookie drafts last year he was over rated and that I wouldn't touch him. Everybody says well the O-line is awful, they only need a couple more pieces, even--"nobody can run behind that line with that scheme". If all that's true then shouldn't we be evaluating Hill the same? Before Mixon there was Hill--and I have to say most of the numbers and types of games are eerily similar.

Mahomes--just--no thanks.

Going old school--reaching into the time vault--Percy Harvin. I never did like this guy. Appeared to be always injured. Complete whiner. I took over an orphan team that had him on my team. I negotiated to get him off my team. I settled on a multi-player deal that essentially sent Harvin for Jeffrey. The outrage that some of my league mates had at this trade could be heard in Canada. Outcome?? That was the year Jeffrey blew up in Chicago (helping me win the championship in the process) and Harvin was never fantasy relevant ever again--

Just a few--and I'm sure there are more. Would be interested in a similar thread about players that seem to be your weakness and you want them on all your teams--
