We do a lottery for top 4 picks we draw out of a bingo machine at Super Bowl halftime. 40/30/20/10 % chance in reverse order of standings. Granted, league champ had our leagues’ basement pick, best chance for the 1.1, but there was still a 60% chance it wouldn’t be his ball
Blue ballz came out first. Our league champ with 3 highest scores ever scored last year in our 5 year league last year will now get Barkley or the payday because of TY Hilton (who was then sold) in 2016 season. Fml

Yeah, I really believe the worst team should get the 1.01 (assuming they didn't trade it away). Because they need it and it keeps the league interesting, competitive and balanced. As a rebuilding team having owned the 1.02 instead of the 1.01 in 2016, 2017 and 2018, it's a HUGE difference. It's so much harder to rebuild especially in the years where the 1.01 is head and shoulders above the rest.

Yeah. It's just how it falls. This owner has now been banned trading his future 1sts as he's done it 3 times... and each year ends up in the bottom 2.

I’m anti-lottery too. Why insert a game of chance into a pastime that strives to be skill-based? It’s like the fantasy football equivalent of grinding out a winning session at a poker table for three hours and then walking over to the roulette wheel and putting it all on black.
That said, not having a lottery wouldn’t have made a difference in this case. It just would’ve meant that instead of having the best odds at winning the 1.01, the league champ would already have the 1.01.

Agree. First step should be to get rid of that awful lottery system. That may be part of the reason he’s not holding those top picks.
