Alex Collins’ value

Postby Hang dog » Sun Jan 28, 2018 10:20 pm

Curious how the community values Collins. What sort of draft pick should he attract?

Mid second I would think is reasonable

QB: Matt Ryan, Andy Dalton, Sam Darnold

WR: OBJ, AJ Green, Tyreek Hill, Larry Fitzgerald, Jamison Crowder, Taywan Taylor
TE: Gronk
D: Chicago

Team 2:
10 Team, Superflex, 0.5 PPR
1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 FLX, 1 OP
QB: Carson Wentz (3 years), Drew Brees (2years), Eli Manning(1year), Ryan Tannehill(1year)
RB: Zeke (4 years), Carlos Hyde (1 year), Alex Collins (1 year), Elijah McGuire (TS)
WR: Keenan Allen (2 year), Michael Thomas(NO, 3 years), Demaryius Thomas (1year), Jarvis Landry(1 year), Golden Tate (1 year), Robby Anderson (TS)

I sold him for the 2.02, and wouldn't sell for much less than that.

I like to think I'm a realist in fantasy football, so I don't believe I'm looking at Collins through the rose colored glasses of ownership (in one league); that being said, why sell for a mid 2nd?

He was the lead back for a run-first team and produced in that spot. He's young. He had major college production. He's no lock to be "the guy" in 2018, but he sure is the favorite. And he looked REALLY solid on film all year. Not quite as good as some of his stats suggest - I don't see him as a difference maker - but he's as, if not more, talented than Alf Morris, Jeremy Hill, or Isaiah Crowell.

Why on earth would I sell him for the next Zay Jones, Marlon Mack, Samaje Perine, or John Ross? Ok sure, I could draft the next JuJu or Engram with a mid First, but Collins could also turn into what Jordan Howard has been. Or heck, he could continue over-exceeding expectations and turn into Arian Foster.

Bottom line, he looks like a high floor, low ceiling RB2. I'd need a very early 2nd, probably a late First.

Great points I just don't think most people value him at that level yet.

Buy for a 2nd, try to sell for a late 1st. Hard to get that with an uncertain situation and a lot of rb talent in the draft.

Very good points and I think 2.2 is a great haul for Collins. I would be surprised to see someone pay a late 1st at this point or even 2.1-2.5. I would think he is currently a hold. As a Raven fan I look forward to watching that situation shake out.

I am a happy Collins owner but I would consider moving him for something in the 2.01 to 2.03 range. He looks great with the ball in his hands but I didn't like Harbaugh's lack of commitment to him in his postseason comments. I've got a contending team, though, and I am more likely to flip him for a contributing player as opposed to a pick. My linebacking corps needs a stud, for instance, and I'm thinking about trying to move him for a high end linebacker if I can.

2.2 is a great get for Collins in my opinion - maybe because it is still early and rookie fever isn't in full swing. I don't think you will find a owner willing to give that closer to the draft. I think he is worth mid-late 2nd.

My feelings too. I would need a late 1st. I'd be reluctant to move him for less.

i think a pick in the 10-15 range is fair both ways. if i was selling, id look to include him in a package and hope the other owner shows interest. i think that is the way to maximize his value currently.

alot can change after the draft, and as the season rolls around. i certainly think he's a sell, but asking him to carry pick value and trade value to a partner are 2 completely different things imo.

As a Collins owner I would sale for the 2.2 but I am interested to see how things play out in that ravens backfield.

I agree that he should probably be valued around early/mid 2nd, but I'm just not paying that price for him yet.
