Jimmy G or Dak?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Jimmy G or Dak?

Postby Fish Sticks » Wed Dec 06, 2017 11:11 am

Heading into the playoffs and I am having a tough time deciding who to start. The numbers tell me to go with Dak but I'm worried after a string of poor performances and the Giants D is equally bad on the ground as through the air.

Garoppolo didn't throw a TD last week and his weapons may be weaker but I also think that game could turn into a shoot out.

What's the right move?

Dak. The entire offense was in a funk the last few weeks and it wasn't just Dak. They seemed to figure it out last week and I think he'll be much better going forward.

Dak - More proven, and a better offense so you'll see better/quicker returns these next few years minimum. Even if Jimmy G is the better QB, it wont show until SF gets their bleep together which could take a couple years.

I don't think this is as clear cut as everyone is making it out to be with SF playing Houston's poor pass defense. In a 6PT pass TD league I'd be tempted to throw in Jimmy G, especially if I was worried about how the rest of my team stacked up. That said, you can't really go wrong with Dak, and it's definitely the safer play.

I realized after the fact that i posted this in the wrong section. I should have posted it in Lineup.

Even so... Dak comes off as more of a game manager. Does anyone else feel like Jimmy could be the next Aaron Rodgers or Steve Young? Both great QBs who spent a few years under a Hall of Fame QB. If the 49ers pick up a another viable WR threat and draft Barkley.. is it out of the question to think that he is a better option that Dak?

I did go ahead and put Dak in my lineup for this week but my gut tells me that Jimmy G has a higher ceiling. Even last week when Dak and the Cowboys got back on track, he only threw for 100 yards. I hope they don't just stick to their running game and trample the Giants this week, causing Dak to only have to throw the ball about 18 times.

x2 this is close. I'd take a look at the matchup. If you're an underdog and need some big points, I'd go Jimmy vs that HOU secondary. If you're favored or it's close, and you just need consistent points, go with Dak.
