Melvin Gordon blockbuster...

Fellow DLF'ers, need help on this one! Should I make this trade? I've owned Melvin since day one and I thought this was going to be his year, but what I'm seeing is starting to really concern me. His ypc is dismal. He looks the part, but wondering if can make the next step.

-I give up: Melvin Gordon, Hunter Henry, J Matthews & 2020 2nd round pick

-I receive: T. Kelce, S. Diggs, and a 1st round pick next year (likely too halve)

I have anther owner waiting in the wings willing to give me a 1st next year and 2nd (maybe 2020 1st) for Kelce. This would give me two 1st round picks in next years draft. Likely one to be top 3.

My Squad:
QB: Wentz/Wilson/Geoff
WR: Watkins/C.Davis/Cooper/Fuller/Z. Jones
RB: Gordon, Cook, Mcaffrey, Carson, Foreman, J.Stewert, Joe Williams
TE: Henry, Engram
DEF: Panthers
k: Vinny

I feel like I can still compete with out Gordon and this gives me considerable boost going into next year and my current TE.

Thoughts?

Well that definitely leaves you vulnerable at TE, although I expect Engram to be the highest producer this year out of all the Rookie TEs

You have some solid young backs but Gordon is pretty young himself. I don't really think you come ahead from the initial trade. Also I'm not sure if I'd give up Kelce for a first and second after I got him since he is in my mind the best dynasty TE (doesn't get hurt like gronk does)

Also I'm wary of trading for a pick 3 years in advance unless the league is very well established.

Overall I don't feel very excited about the trade. You lose some solid young players for picks that could end up being nothing. Seems high risk minimal reward to me.

That's sort of my thoughts too. I was sort of excited tmwith the idea of having another two picks In the first round next year with what I see on the horizon.

Would you recommend doing the Kelce trade and holding off on the second or no trade at all?

Kelce is a nice piece and I'd think a 1st and Kelce is solid return on Gordon. Idk..

I personally dont mind the first trade.

Gordon/Matthews/Henry= Kelce/Diggs
1st>2nd

I would absolutely not make the 2nd trade and would hold Kelce... I would loathe to lose Hunter Henry though and would try and get him pumped about Engram after a good game on Monday night

I would take the first offer but I'm not really big on Melvin Gordon I think he's overrated. Diggs is legit with a Real QB and Kelce is probably 1b when it comes to TE's and you get a 1st Rounder. In addition you have young backs such as Cook and MCcaffrey your good.

I would pass on #1 and take #2 (sell Kelce)

I just knew this was your first ever post by seeing you put "Blockbuster" in the title lol

Ps, sent you a PM

Trading away Kelce for a 1st and a 2nd would be very silly

I'm agreeing with Coogan here.
Gordon has absolutely nobody to take carries from him. Keep Melvin Gordon.

I also don't hold a lot of value to TE as you can likely trade for an older one who gets decent production. Get the picks for him

I don't think people realize that unless he makes the 1st deal, he can't make the 2nd one. He doesn't own Kelce yet. With that said, I'd keep Gordon as well.

Oops, misread.

In that case, just keep Gordon.

I am keeping Gordon. I don't think you are getting enough in return.

I agree with your concerns around Gordon but don't love the trade. I don't see you coming out ahead really. RBs seem to trade at a premium in both my leagues though so maybe I'm biased. I would want to get back another startable rb if I'm moving one.

Well I appreciate everyones input. I'm regrettably having to say I took the first trade and dumped Gordon. I did this for two reasons, it may be wrong thinking, but here it goes...

1. I've consistently traded with this manager for the past two years. In fact, last year I made a few trades where I dumped Bree's and a few scrub players and turned that into Cook/McCaffrey/Z. Jones/Foreman this year. I think he was starting to catch on that I always get the better of our trades and didn't want future discussions to go stale. I know he feels like he won on this trade.

2. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Gordon form day 1, but after thorough research and looking past how well he looks when he runs. I don't see him going higher. Just my gut call on this one. I think he will start to trend down. Will see.

3. There is A LOT of love in my league for top TE and I know I can turn this into something if i'm not winning now in a few weeks. For example.
I have one manager willing to do Kelce -> Mixon & a pick OR Mixon & Olsen.
Another manger likely will offer his 1st and 2nd rounds next year (likely top 3 pick in 2018.)

4. Lastly, I have a young group of guys. Potentially having a group of young studs in Cook/McCaffrey/Davis/Carson/S. Barkley or Guice for the next 7 years is very enticing. I know Gordon is still young, but 25 vs. 22 would be nice.

Love to hear your thoughts on this thinking.
