2 Jordy Nelson trades

Team in sig. First year dynasty league (and first year dynasty player), PPR. I’d be proposing the following 2 trades:
1- Jordy Nelson for Keenan Allen (a favorite of mine)
2- Jordy Nelson + Charles Clay + 2018 3rd round pick for Tyreek Hill + Kyle Rudolph + 2018 2nd round pick
I have no experience in dynasty, so I’m not sure any of those make sense. What do you think?

I would do the first one if it gets accepted.

I would do Jordy for Keenan. Jordy did say he wants to player 2-4 more years. Keenan is almost a Jordy caliber talent and has less mileage on his body.

Not sure if it's necessarily a win now move but it has a better longterm outcome and isn't a huge drop off right now.

Jordy for Allen is a good move for both teams. Deal 2 doesn't make any sense for you unless you think Hill can become a viable WR2 for the next 3-5 years.

Not a huge fan of either TBH, but the first does make sense for your team. Similar injuries to both players that they seem beyond now and Keenan (although in a crowd of WR talent) gives you more longevity at only 25 years of age.

Ok, I tested the waters for Keenan Allen and the guy came back asking for Nelson and my first 2018 pick. My fandom says yes, but is it too much? Maybe the 2nd pick? Thanks guys!
@npainter yeah I actually think of Hill as a risky high wr2, low wr1 for the foreseeable future, and that's from before last Friday's game, but perhaps I'm being too optimistic? This being my first year in dynasty my judgment is all a bit screwed up I think...

I wouldnt do any of the trades. Deff not Nelson and your first for Allen. Yea Allen has more years left on him than Jordy does, but he has been having serious injuries the past couple of years. Something I always look at is how much time does Rivers have left?? Which does affect Allen in the long run.

Yeah, good point about Rivers. This is an nfl.com league, and it requires the same number of picks traded on both sides, so I am currently discussing Nelson and my 2nd for Allen and his 4th or Nelson and my 1st for Allen and his 2nd... I may prove too much of a fan for serious dynasty play yet! :D

Jordy and a higher pick for Allen and a lower pick i think your loosing out on. The worst I would do is straight up player for player, but even than i think Nelson is more value than Allen

Aww, hell no. Even the second for his fourth is a no go. Stick with it, dude you can be both a fan and a dynasty player, you're asking the right questions.

Well, I ended up doing the trade, in this form:

J.Nelson+1st+3rd for K.Allen+2nd+4th

...and then I went and doubled down with this:

OBJ+L.David+4th for M.Thomas+A.Ogletree+1st

So putting it all together:

J.Nelson+OBJ+L.David+3rd for M.Thomas+K.Allen+A.Ogletree+2nd

All in all, although if I'm honest they are really fan moves (I just hate OBJ and love Thomas), I think dynasty-wise they are at least defensible?

I think you've made terrible decisions that you'll end up regretting. Hopefully I'm wrong and these trades work out well for you, either way these moments are necessary for new dynasty owners. Either you'll look back on the trades positively and you can be more confident in your own personal evaluations going forward, or you'll look back with regret and you can use the memory to check your fandom at the door when making high end roster moves.

Welcome to dynasty. I hope it works out for you, but long term I think you lost significantly. +1 as chalk it up to growing pains if it does not work.

Jordy => Keenan. I could possibly see Jordy + 3rd for Keenan + 4th but I still think you are losing there. My initial thought when you proposed was to get a higher draft pick from Keenan owner if possible.

I really hate the OBJ deal. Hopefully that pick turns out to be top 3. Even then I still think you lost.

I don't like either trade you made. Liked both in the original post. When you couldn't get Allen straight up I would've have tried deal #2.

Thanks guys. Definitely much to learn then, although I have to say I'm not too worried about these first trades. I'm ok with starting off the dynasty with some of my favorite players, then working from there to make the team as successful as possible. And according to fantasy pros and such I still have a very good shot at winning this year already or at least making it to the playoffs, so all the more reason to take it easy that way.
