Picks 1.01 and 1.05 do you draft Davis first?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Knowing that you will get one of the 4rb's with the 5th pick? PPR league. Curious to hear your folks opinion. New to the forum

Im in the exact same position today.

I'm going fournette first cause I need RB depth. That being said if Davis falls to me at 5 I'm taking him, if he doesn't then I'll be torn between another RB or MWill.

Can't blame you, but in my opinion, there is a thin margin between Fournette, Cook, Mccaffrey, or Mixon... especially in PPR. By taking one of them first, you risk losing Davis, no? This is a tough call.

I thought the same too but I think the difference is thin only in the short term. In the long term I think Fournette is the clear option for the highest ceiling. His size and talent make sure him look like someone who will produce at a top level for years to come no matter the situation, a back that can carry a team.

CMC and Cook look situation dependent and for the current short term situation look set but I'm thinking long term. Not gonna lie though, I'd love to have all 4 on my team and if my WR depth was non existent and I had one solid RB and one decent RB2 option then I would pick Davis first.

I just completed my draft and had 1.1 and 1.5. It's standard scoring so I'm surprised that Davis was taken 1.3. I got Fournette at 1.1 and Cook at 1.5 and am thrilled

I'd take Davis ... but wouldn't blame you if you went Fournette. I try to avoid knuckleheads so wouldn't want to be in a position to choose from Mixon or Cook at 1.5 .. so if I needed a RB badly, I'd probably go Fournette, that way I wouldn't get stuck later.

Mixon 1.01 Cook 1.05 were my picks this year at those spots. I went unorthodox but based off talent.

Mine was a tad bit different in my 14 teamer because I had 1.02 and 1.05 but pulled the trigger on Davis and took what was left with Mixon. I really wanted Mixon though so it worked out. Personally I would've went Fournette then whatever what was left if he was available or if I had 1.01.

Do you, or anyone reading this have concerns with Fournette in PPR though? I feel like by the time they get a QB, he will be worn down physically and will also probably have a third down back to supplement him. I'm really struggling with taking him #1 in ppr

If you can't decide on which RBs you like better than sure, take Davis and whomever is left.

But if you have one RB ahead of the rest, which it sounds like you do, you need to take him at 1.1. I think we get caught in this trap of thinking that guys in a similar tier are going to have similar careers, but that isn't the case. A couple of these guys are likely to end up being colossal busts while one might end up being a top 5 dynasty player. If you have an inkling on who you think will be the latter vs. the former then you need to jump on that.

Imagine if you liked Le'Veon Bell better than Gio and Monte Ball (same tier) in 2013 but you decided to take a WR instead of Bell because you could also get whichever of those 3 fell, and you missed out on Bell.

I'm not personally. I worked the SEC-W games for PFF during those seasons so I know he can catch. They just didn't have a QB that could contribute to him during that time. You got to go with your gut though at the end and pick who you really want and hope the other player falls to
You.

Not really a comparison no? This RB class relates more to the 2014 WR class or 2008 RB class I believe than the 2013 RB class. The talent is at a next level. Not 100% on the 2008 RB class. I'd have to look at drafthistory to be sure. Nevertheless you gotta go with your gut. For me I knew I would get Mixon because the hype train has rolled heavily into the McCaff and Cook stations.
