Rude e-mail from league owner...your advice on trade

I sent the following trade offer to a league owner "Your 2017 1st round pick (#2 overall) for my #7 pick in the 1st round and my #6 pick in the second round" This was the first trade offer made to him this year for his 1st round pick (or any player on his roster).

I got the following in reply;

"I will not be trading my #2 pick , so people please stop offering me garbage for the pick . Thank you"

Was what I offered "garbage"?

Pick 6 is after the talent drop in this class, so would take multiple 1sts or players

I was in a draft not to long ago--I was offered a trade in which I thought I was handed junk. And I told him so. You want to trade? Let's trade. But don't offer me junk--

He came back said--it's not junk--we just value each player and draft pick differently. Maybe. Fair enough. But I know a junk offer when I get one

Same league a gentleman offered a trade. I thought OK this has potential. I am looking at the players--and based on the players offered i was expecting to be offered a future draft pick. Was absolutely blown away by the fact that he was asking for my first rounder next year in addition---UMMMM What??--

Moral of the lesson?? One's man garbage might be another man's treasure--

Not sure why he made the comment sound as though you weren't the first to offer him a bad deal, or garbage as he called it? You sure others haven't been sending him poor offers as that does get frustrating. Also, was this message to just you or sent to the entire league?

Regardless, yes, the 1.07 and 2.06 would def not get you the 1.02 from many/any owners. As has been mentioned, the drop off after 1.05 is significant and the 2.06 is somewhat of a dart throw.

I originally thought he sent it just to me as I got it via email but I guess he did post it to the league board for everyone in the league and those posts are also sent via email to all the league owners. yep, drop off is significant...thanks everyone for your thoughts...

Ok..I was offended(embarrassed to say)..must be having a bad day..the offer was my co-owners idea from last evening, and yes, at first I thought the same thing but then "got on board" and forgot about my original reluctance...I was thinking the #7 and the #8 picks in the first round...maybe that wouldn't even be enough...

If you want the 2nd overall pick you're going to have to pay a lot more than that. Two 1st's + a nice piece should be the starting point if you're approaching him with an offer.

Ha, I never try to be rude in my response except in response to rude responses. A low ball offer but it's better to respond with that than be a douche and set yourself up for a barrage of similar responses to your offers in the future.

I can't remember the exact wording but, in one league, an owner posted on chat that "I know I'm not super active but that doesn't mean I'm stupid. I'm not wasting the time it takes to log on and decline your offer. I'm not stupid, I just don't want my time wasted".

Well that got plenty of responses in chat. Best part, he still has the following rostered post draft and camp: Aaron Murray, Bishop Sankey, Dexter McCluster, Denard Robinson, Lorenzo Taliaferro, Rashard Higgins, and Troy Niklas. Forest Gump quotes come to mind.

So you got offended that he got offended by your offer? lol I just have to laugh when people get emotional during trade talks, I don't understand it. Don't take the offer, or do. Don't respond or counter to the offer, or do. But definitely don't take it personal, it's only fantasy football. Or do.
