A-Brown / M. Thomas-Mixon

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

A-Brown / M. Thomas-Mixon

Postby quietloudness » Sat Jun 03, 2017 8:33 am

So I joined a 48 team league that has four copies of players available (essentially a 12 team league, but teams can have the same players). They had 8 teams replaced (I took over one) and did a dispersal draft of the players. I took the game plan of going young to hopefully compete next year. I have 1 aging RB (but a good one) as starters, the rest of my team fairly young.

QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, TE, Flex, K, DEF

My team:
-Wilson, Tanny, Bridgwater
-McCoy, Crowell, Mixon, Ryan Mathews, Matt Jones, Jonathan Williams
-Michael Thomas (Saints), Devante Parker, Breshad Perriman, Laquon Treadwell, Marvin Jones, Tyrell Williams, Nelson Agohlar, Devin Funchess, Coates
-Jesse James, Pitta, Cook
K/Def eh
Picks 2.07, 2.08, 3.11

His team
-Brees, Glennon, Smith, Bridgewater
-Bell, Elliot, TY Mont, Josh Ferg. Char. West, McFadden
-A. Brown, Evans, Julio, Diggs, DT, Janis, Andre Ellington
-Kelce, Rudolph, Higbee, hooper
K/Def eh
no picks

He has been coming after Mixon and I have being staying steadfast in holding 3 RB's and young with my WR core. Now he sent this offer:

Antonio Brown
For
Michael Thomas and Joe Mixon

If I stay true to my plan, I need to reject. However, Antonio is Antonio and he is one of the best in the league as well as one of my favorites. So I am needing some feedback because I want to make sure I am looking clearly at this. I think at this time of year next year, MT could potentially have similar value and Mixon's value to grow as well. So do I buy a higher value stock now at the cost of 2 very good stocks that could grow next year?

Appreciate any feedback

Thank you

I would make this deal. I don't see your team competing in the next couple seasons but this is a very low offer for AB imo.
Team 1: 12 TM PPR/PPC Superflex
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, 1 Sflex
QB: Herbert, Tua, Jones, Lock
RB: Barkley, Akers, Conner, Pollard
WR: Adams, Lamb, JJefferson, Godwin, Pittman, DPJ, Hardman
TE:Kelce, Cox
(24): 2, 3, 4

Team 2: 12 TM PPR Superflex, TE premium, .25 PPC
1 QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex, 1 Sflex
QB: Wentz, Lance, Mond
RB: Montgomery, Mattison
WR: AJ Brown, Chase, JJefferson, Jeudy, Pascal, Hardman, Bourne
TE: Goedert, Howard
(22) 1.2, 1.5, 2.5, 3.1, 3.2, 3.5, 4.5
(23) 1, 2, 3, 4

Team 3: 12 TM PPR Superflex
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, TE, 2 Flex, 1 Sflex
QB: Wentz, Rodgers, Foles, Brissett
RB:
WR: Deebo, Evans, Hopkins, Adams, Mooney
TE:

I wouldn't take that trade. I believe Mixon is an RB2 at worst this year with RB1 upside and obviously his future is bright at 21. Thomas is an up and coming WR1 as well who I have huge faith in. No way for me. Your team would get worse with that trade IMO, not only this year but in the future as well.

I gotta tell ya, I don't understand these multiple copy player leagues at all...I thought valuing within 16-team settings was difficult, this stuff is beyond me.

That said, on general value: AB >> M Thomas/J Mixon

I love the copied leagues, trades are fast and furious.

My concern with the value is in two years they could look like this:

MT >AB
Mixon =AB

MT will be 26 and Mixon 22, AB will be 31. It's like stocks, do I want in now or when I think my team is ready to compete.

If you were a contender aiming to go over the top, this trade would make sense for you... BUT--- I personally don't see AB being the sole difference maker to bring your team to that level, so I'd advise hanging onto MT and Mixon as two young, solid building blocks to get you to where you want to be next year, or possibly the year after that.
Team 1
12-team, 0.5 PPR, SuperFlex, TE Premium (+0.5 PPR) | 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 3FLEX, 1SF

QB: Hurts, Herbert, Cousins, Purdy
RB: Taylor, Barkley, Swift, Mixon, N.Harris, Hunt, Dobbins, Strong
WR: Jefferson, Adams, Metcalf, Godwin, Ridley, Lockett, Cooks
TE: Kittle, Njoku, Gesicki

Team 2
12-team, PPR | 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2FLEX

QB: Wilson, Jones
RB: Robinson, Gibbs, Mixon, Sanders, R. White
WR: Lamb, Godwin, Lockett, Addison, D. Johnson, Meyers, Campbell, R. Moore

I'd much rather have MT and Mixon.

Win now philosophy says brown, but if your going for future definitely mixon and m. Thomas. AB could have a new quarterback next year and AB hasn't been the same without him

I think the value is fine but looking at your team you need to stick with the youth. AB does not make your team a contender in my opinion

Since you already took the deal, you may want to explore trades this season for AB. He still has a few years of top production left, but his value is probably near it's peak right now. With him aging and not having quite the same production without Ben, he should fall into the "sell high" category. You got him for a good price, and I think you could get more back midseason when contenders are looking to push.
