Time to move on from AB? **edit**

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Time to move on from AB? **edit**

Postby dblj1199 » Tue May 16, 2017 9:21 am

Plain and simple would you move on from AB? I still think my team is capable of winning it all but I always want to be looking towards the future ( I was burned by Calvin retiring early and couldn't move AP with his suspension). So do I make another run. Or do I look to move him before his value drops or Big Ben retires?
Would an offer of my AB for M Thomas and his 1.5 get laughed at?

*edit*

That isn't enough for AB in my opinion. I would easily keep AB, especially if you think you can compete.

AB is at the age apex and his stats without Big Ben have been extremely pedestrian. This season might be your last chance to net true stud value from him. I'm not a huge Michael Thomas fan, but based on his current perceived value, MT + 1.05 would be a nice return for AB.

I don't think it's far off at all.. I can also see the other owner possibly balking at giving that up for AB. Could go either way but I also like Mikey.

To consider moving on from AB because of age is a bit of a rash decision. AB will only be 29 in 2 months and he hasn't missed a single game in the last 4 years (other than a meaningless week 17 last season) and he doesn't generally take big hits (other than Bengals cheap shots). That said, the value of Michael Thomas and 1.5 for AB isn't bad. You should trade him if the value is good and it will benefit your team, not because of your fear that he may pull a Calvin Johnson and retire...they are two completely different situations.

I'd probably keep him for one more year because your team looks pretty competitive. However, if you do decide to move him, Thomas and the 1.05 is not a bad return. For all the same reasons you're thinking about selling, people are avoiding him for those exact same reasons unless they get him relatively cheap. It's going to be difficult to find a buyer willing to give up more than a young stud like Thomas and a top pick (even if he might be worth more).

In Landry's 2 full starts that AB also played, AB went 6-124 and 7-106...

I don't love Landry, but I also don't think Ben retires any time soon lol

This is exactly why he should prob consider moving him. One year from now, there's likely even more fear from others that he's nearing the downturn to his career. If they want him "relatively cheap" today, can you imagine May 2018?

I agree completely, unless he's helping you win a championship this year.

Im fine with moving on. In a ten team league your team doesn't look like a favorite with that running back stable.
10 team, .5 ppr dynasty
QB: Brady, Wilson
RB: Fournette, cook, mixon, Ajayi, Gordon, Ware, Joe Williams, Hunt, Martin
WR: Evans, TY, Dez, Sammy, Coleman, Diggs, Ross, White, Fitz
TE: Watson, Eifert, Bennet

PPR 12 team superflex, limited devy (1 per year) heavy return yardage
Cousins, Rivers, Kizer
Fournette, Zeke, Mixon, mcCaffrey, Joe Williams, Mcnichols, Mack, Martin
Cooper, Evans, Watkins, Coleman, Diggs, Martavis, Chad Williams, Parker

That is part of my thinking. If I could acquire the 1.5 and Thomas for AB it does two things. 1 - a young and up in coming wr to replace AB. 2 - assuming the top three at Fournette, McCaffery and Davis then I'd land either Cook or Mixon at 5, and still have the 1.7 pick.

I disagree with wildabeast on this one...starting Matt Ryan, Zeke, AB, AJG, Cooper and Gronk can win a lot of games. Again, I don't think the value is bad on the offer though.
