2017 Draft approach

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

2017 Draft approach

Postby SpartacusPTech » Tue Dec 27, 2016 10:42 am

With still a lot to be settled before our rookie drafts, I've been thinking of the best way to approach my draft for my orphan rebuild.

I have the 1.02, 1.03, 1.15, 1.16 and 3 2017 2nds also. So I have some ammo to hopefully hit on a few players. I know most have Fournette and Dalvin Cook as the top 2 choices. Now the idea I have will probably be best if I am able to trade out of the 1.02 to say the 1.04 and get another piece added. But I'm thinking with how deep this draft is at the RB position and with the shelf life of RBs, that I should go WR with my first 2 picks and RB with my 2 picks after that. Obviously landing spot and combine stuff might change this and I will try to go BPA. But with me being in rebuild and the reasons stated above in regards to the RB position, what do you forum folks think of such an approach?

moving back to the 1.04 would be great if you can get a piece that is an up and comer, but don't make the trade just to get an extra player.

Thanks for the advice, but my question is more centered on the approach of going WR, WR, RB, RB with my first 4 picks all in the 1st round. Thoughts?

I'd take whoever is left between Fournette and Cook and then take your choice of Williams or Davis. I get your concern with RB shelf life but it's too early to worry about how your team will look in 5 years. Get the best available and I think it's the 2 RBs easily and then the 2 WRs.

Trade 15 and/or 16 for 2018 1sts. Owners will want to get back into this draft. Then just take best available with your 2nds. Guys like McNichols, Hill will be available and could be give you great trade value to get a WR that gets injured early in 2018 season.

You have another rebuilding year ahead of you so I'd add picks. Next year's draft is looking pretty strong too.

I think you have to go Cooks/Fournette with the 1.2 then either Williams/Davis with the 1.15 and 1.16 I would either package them to move up, or like the other poster said you will most likely still have another rebuilding year ahead so trade them for next years picks unless if someone like Mixon or Foreman is available.
