Superflex: Cooks = what QBs?

This is the place for team advice - should I make this trade, should I draft that player, etc.

Superflex: Cooks = what QBs?

Postby ThrawnFett » Tue May 24, 2016 11:32 am

I have a Superflex league in which I need an upgrade at QB (not one in my sig). I have an abundance of WR talent and I'm not a huge believer in Brandin Cooks, so I'd like to shop him.

For which QBs would you trade Brandin Cooks (ppr scoring)?

I too am not a fan of Cooks but I'd say he's valued somewhere around WR13-19. In Superflex I'd equate that to approximately QB17-23. If you can get Tannehill or Stafford straight up for him I think I'd do that. But, depending on how the other owners values him, I wouldn't be surprised if you weren't offered more than a Goff/Teddy/Cousins type QB.

Really? That low rank of a QB?

DLF's 2QB rankings have him around the same as Mariota/ Jameis/ Carr.

That's just my personal opinion. I really think their QB values are super low on that 2QB chart. For example, they have Moncrief, Kevin White and Jamaal Charles ranked higher than Matt Ryan and Ryan Tannehill. No way in hell would I trade either Matt Ryan or Tannehill for any of those straight up, maybe not even for 2 of those 3 in a 12 team 2 QB league. Eli ranked at the same level as Funchess? JMatt within a few spots of Carr/Bortles? Those players won't get you those QB's in any of the superflex leagues I play in, much less 2QB leagues.

I would go for Stafford. Try for Carr and see if you can get him though.

In the superflex that I just drafted in Cooks was taken at 2.8, and the qb drafted right before him was Mariota (around 2.5). Right after him was Roeth at 2.10 if that helps you at all. I know it is just one league, but it lines up close to the DLF 2 qb rankings you mentioned earlier. (Bridgewater and Stafford were the next two to go but that was end of 3rd round). Who are your WR's?

what's the league size? if 10 team, i may prefer cooks to carr/bortles/winston, but I think anything more you have to prefer the QBs as they are so much more valuable.

I agree with this. The worst would be a no, and I don't think he/she would be offended by the offer, and at least start talks.

Superflex ADP and trade values are two different things. Once an owner gets their hands on one of the top young QBs the value instantly skyrockets and they aren't letting them go

The value of QBs in Superflex is much more varied across leagues than I was expecting. I play in a bunch and in some of them the QB trumps all, in others, not so much. I moved Cooks for Carr straight-up in one league, but would expect Carr + in another and to pay Cooks + in another. Unhelpful observation I suppose, but I think it is important to gauge your own league's values very carefully.

Cooks is my 4th best WR and I have enough quality depth to not be worried about injuries. I have Antonio, A Rob, Alshon, Cooks, J Matt, Decker, Golden Tate.

I took over this early in the 2014 offseason and blew the team up. Drafted well with that rookie class and been an active trader.

I'm not really hurting at QB (Mariota, Tannehill, Ryan Fitz, Kaep), but I would like to upgrade there if possible.

I actually posted the full team here, if you're curious: forum.dynastyleaguefootball.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=121289

Considering it's a superflex and not a 2QB, I think Cooks should be able to get you any QB outside of Cam/Luck/Russ/A Rodg.

I would look to upgrade your QB2. I don't really trust Tanny/Fitz/Kaep.

My problem right now: 3 owners dropped out and the dispersal draft hasn't happened yet. We have one spot filled and the commish said he was gonna post the others openings on DLF Forum 3 weeks ago, but has been MIA since. Luck, Rodgers, and Cam are all in the dispersal pool. I would love to trade Cooks+ for one of them.
